Sergio needs to go back to his roots, he has tried too many putters and different putting styles. He needs to empty his head of all the different notions of putting and go back to what he knows. Needs to take a look at what he was doing back in his younger years. He is a natural feel putter.

Which driving stat helps GIR more, accuracy or distance? Does hitting more GIR mean your putting will suffer? Both are good questions stemming from some comments and forum threads last week that are answered.

Interesting post Rafi, but Sergio is 27th in proximity… pretty darn good. Since I compared him to Tiger in the article, let's look at his stats as well. Tiger is 6th in GIR and 25th in proximity...VERY close to Sergio except that Tiger is 5th in putting average. Jim Furyk is the same way. 7th in GIR, 2nd in proximity, 19th in putting.

Like I said, putting what is keeping Sergio from exploding. He's hitting a lot of greens and also closer to the pin than most everyone else.

Maybe he should go back to the Cameron… heck, that's what Tiger uses.

forget cameron, he's already better now with the new taylor but seriously - isn't natural, that with improved GIR your putting statistics will get worse?Shots that were "just off" weren't in the stats, now they're - not necessery in a makable range... Now he is hitting the greens, but I'd like to see his "proximity to the hole" factor added to this analysis before we judge his putting skills...
