Tiger is going to win, said this from the beginning, that's the only predictable element here. It's shaping up nicely now, but most of the big guns are gone. Stephen Ames is on a roll, when he is hot he can be sizzling. Ogilvy is catching fire too, Baddeley loves playing in AZ, CH III has been consistenly great this year, throw Casey, Toms, Immelman, etc. into the mix and you've got 3 more days of great golf!

Well, now that Scott was upsetted by Micheel I gotta go with Ogilvy comin back and winning his bracket (I'm so sad...Scott's my favorite player right now =/). I predict our final two to be Woods and Furyk. However, the way CHIII is playing and how bad Ogilvy could want a two-peat there could be an upset match with our finals featuring Mr. Ogilvy & CHIII. But we're talkin' about Tiger Woods here...he's takin' it all the way for #8. Those are my predictions for now. We'll see what happens.

It's easy for me to say now that I know some of the winners, but I think that the final four will be Tiger, Chris DiMarco, Goosen, and Furyk.

But my predictions were always Woods, Scott, Furyk, and Charles Howell III as the last 4. I'd write explanations but it'd take awhile. We'll see what happens.

Cody, great piece of writing. I have to admit it's been a while since I've read a 'Thrash Talk' but I'm glad I'm back around here to read this again. I like all of your comments and agree with your final four, I think mine was pretty similar as you pointed out in the forum. I am considering a *cough, cough* sick day one of the first 3 days to just sit home and do nothing but watch some match play! I love it!!!

Hi Cody,

Great piece; I can't argue with any of it. I personally think Ernie Els is at the start of a great, great year. He won at the back end of last year (finally); his knee troubles seem to be well and truly behind him (at last); he says he's the fittest he's been in 15 years and he hasn't finished outside the top-three in his last four tournaments, which says a lot about his game!

He is a classic match player too, with a number of World Matchplay titles under his belt. However, this week is a bit of a sprint, with each match being over 18 holes and not over 36, so anything could happen if someone gets a quick start, which makes it that bit more exciting in my opinion.

All in all it promises to be a great week. So my tip is Ernie Els to win, with Davis Love to be a sneaky outsider; a good eachway bet. There are a lot of top players in great form right now; this year promises to be vintage!!
