Feherty typifies just another self-absorbed boor who is compelled to set humor on a vulgar base. Unfortunately, current media is delighted to bring his words to golf fans of all ages and ethical backgrounds.
I know where you're coming from but think you're being too hard on him. Feherty has a "schtick" that sometimes gets overused and he can steer to the childish side, but he can also make perceptive comments and usually he adds a welcome note of humor - I think golf is already made serious enough. Overall, I enjoy him.
You know, that's a pretty fair assessment, and it's hard to argue too much with you. But after the first couple of times I heard his 'schtick' it ceased being funny for me.

I think you should draw a line between what you'll say in your informal, live 'act' and what you write. The way he writes just comes off wrong...crude..etc.

I'm not a Tiger groupie by any means but from the last two comments it almost sounds as if Tiger is being punished for being successful. I want to see other players do well but I want to see them do well and triumph against the toughest odds. Without Tiger around, it's hard to jusity that they did that. I know as and athlete myself I want to play the opposition at there best, I don't want to hear excuses when I win...and if I don't win, it just means I need to work harder.

Personally I think it has been wonderful that he has had to retire for a while. it has allowed others to shine and opened up fields.Again it will open up great interest when he returns!! So Golf is the winner either way you look at it.

I actually found the season to be more interesting this year without Tiger around. A lot of guys stepped up to the plate and played fantastic golf, and the media actually had to look around and develop some interest and information in other players instead of just recycling the same old pap about Tiger. Between Vijay's resurgence, Lefty's struggles and triumphs, Immelman's Master's, Mediate at the Open, Sergio winning the Players then losing yet again in another big playoff (then winning in a playoff last week), Kim's dominant arrival, Villegas first and then second wins, Kenny Perry's 3-peat and near misses, Westwood-the-thin pounding it out, Harrington double-Majoring, the Shark bringing three fantastic rounds to the British Open, the Ryder Cup drama, and Annika announcing her retirement -- and the list could be much longer -- the golfing year had a lot of drama and excitement. Not having Tiger around, now we have a cast of characters that fans know more about and hopefully are more invested in following, and we have a whole host of new winners who have new confidence in their ability to go out and take it to anyone.
