OK, so I said it would be great if Duval contended on Sunday and he is! Granted, it's only the third round, but my wish is partly true! Unfortunately I also predicted he would miss the cut... Bad call there. That said, my Canadians are well represented with Weir in contention and the low amateur in Nick Taylor. Now the only thing left to decide is if I should call in sick at work to watch the drama on Monday...
WHAT WOULD YOU SHOOT AT BETHPAGE ON SUNDAY, GIVEN A MULLIGAN PER HOLE? Hopefully break 100
I mean break 80 if I had a one per a hole.

What about Zach Johnson? Johnson -4 (276), Tiger -3 (277)

I think that Zach will have a great tourney, as long as he gets going early. I think if he can shoot even or -1 on Thursday, he'll have a great chance to get to the weekend and perform well. Also, they have to keep the ball in the fairway at the Black and Zach is one to do that for sure. As an Iowan, I will pick Zach to win. But in reality, Zach, Tiger or Geoff would be my top three champs.

WINNER - PAUL CASEY -4. (276). He hits a long ball and has found a bit of confidence this year.

HE COULD CONTEND - TIGER WOODS. A big, strong lad who shows a little bit of potential. ;-)

HE'LL BE PACKING BY FRIDAY - Unfortunately I fear it'll be most of the Aussies. It'd be nice to see one of them get it together however Ogilvy seems to have cooled after a great start to the year, Allenby would need to putt to the very best of his ability to even contend and unfortunately many of the others have been making up numbers this year.

WOULDN'T IT BE GREAT IF... - I'm with Erik on this one. It'd be great if it didn't rain. When you're getting up at 3am in winter to watch the live telecast you want to see some golf being played.

MOST OVERUSED ANNOUNCING TERM/PHRASE OF THE WEEK - "You've got to feel for Phil, but what was he thinking?"

WHAT WOULD YOU SHOOT AT BETHPAGE ON SUNDAY, GIVEN A MULLIGAN PER HOLE? I'm not as confident as the Sandtrap boys, even with a Mulligan off every hole you've still got to do the other 2, 3, or 4 shots perfectly at a place like Bethpage. As someone who doesn't even particularly like teeing off with a couple of groups watching, I imagine the crowds might be a bit off putting (and put me of my putting as well). I still think high 80s / low 90s would be on the cards.

Wow, we're a cocky bunch. Give us a mully a hole and apparently we'll contend in the U.S. Open! :-) But I'm not backing off what I said - I just think the trick would be using your mulligans appropriately.

Folks - post your thoughts and answer the same questions. Let's hear your predictions.
