I'll put in another vote for rockbottomgolf. Craigslist and ebay are also great if you have some time on your hands.

If you can only select one, I think laptop is an easy choice. Its got almost as much portability as a tablet and almost as much functionality as a desktop.

Probably luck, but it could be that you overthink/psych yourself out on the ones you read.

Running shoes are fairly common for me during casual rounds. People think its funny, but I've never really been convinced that golf shoes help all that much. (Wet days might be an exception)

I've always assumed those non-range balls are mine if I want them. If I find a ball in good shape I usually take it. I used to play some at a fancy club where it was common to find a nice shape pro-V1 or other high-end ball in your bucket
