  1. There are plenty of nice courses. Nevil Meade is nice, Cardinal Club is a nice test. I have always loved the Bull but its somewhat in the middle of nowhere. I hated moving from ky to florida, but there are a ton more courses here.
  2. This isnt at a tour event but it is about tour pros. The college I went to hosted a fundraiser. Our coach is friends with Fuzzy Zoeller and he convinced Fuzzy, Dana Quigley, and Jim Thorpe to come play in our fundraiser. People paid to play in the pro's foursome. Since I played golf there, I got to walk around with them and meet them all. Thorpe was a massive man. The biggest hand I've ever shaken. Dana was personable as well but Fuzzy could be an entertainer. Fuz cusses more than anyone Ive ever met on a course. It was a great experience and was awesome to meet them. Dana let one of my fellow teammates hit one of his hybrids on a par three and my friend almost holed it out. Dana asked him if he liked it and my friend said hell yeah! Dana told him he would have his people send him a couple with the same prototype shaft! A month later, we get out of class and he has a box at his house with the initials DQ on the box. Thats pretty cool.
  3. Check out Golfnow.com for good discounts and links to the course's websites. Its a really good website.
  4. Bay Hill, Heathrow, and Isleworth are all awesome but almost impossible to get on. Shingle Creek is a nice place, the course didnt wow me, but it was ariated 3 weeks ago. MetroWest is a very nice course, would recommend it. Just played Champions Gate, the International course and was very impressed. Its a Greg Norman design and is where David Ledbetter teaches out of.
  5. For a beginner, even at your height you wont need extensions. Once you begin making consistently solid contact, invest in some good used clubs. You can get tips added under the grip-relatively inexpensively.
  6. To relax I usually chew gum or sunflower seeds to take my mnd off the tension some on the first tee. Gary Player once said to toss your ball up into the air and catch it a couple times to focus on eye-hand coordination right before hitting.
  7. If you approached your coaches as a grown up and told them that you would like to discuss your recent play, Im sure they would oblige. Ive seen the same situation get ugly when parents get involved. State your case and tell them the truth. Do not mention anything about rumors of cheating from your fellow teammate. You can only control you. Even if they dont put you into the top 5, I promise they will respect you more.
  8. Taylor Made Driver, Titleist Irons, Titleist Balls. Dont care if they match or not. I want them to do what I want!
  9. Yes! putters certainly have a great feel when struck solidly. However, when not, things get ugly. I would like to see the c-grooves be a little wider, as it seemed like my lag putting when I used one was horrendus. I had the Sophia, fwiw.
  10. Ive recently gone to a form of the claw grip used by Chris DiMarco. My index finger on top of the grip, middle finger on the side of the putter and the other two off the grip entirely. It might not work for you, but it works for me. Ive lowered my putting average by 3 shots.
