  1. I think the equation you are looking for is this: Force(@ ball when struck) = Mass(of club) x Velocity squared (swing speed) Since the Velocity is squared, a small change will make more of a difference than in increase in weight. If the swing speed stays the same, then a heavier club head will also give more force, and more distance. Typically if the clubhead is heavier, you lose swing speed, so distance goes down. A lot of it may be what feels comfortable - you may like a heavier club head and swing smoother, which may result in a better ball strike, and longer distance.
  2. Had the Nickent Arc clubs, thought I would try the newer irons to see what I was missing. Bought the FP set, and really can't tell any difference at all. Not that the FP's are bad, just no improvement over the Nickent. Should have kept the Nickent set and spent the money elsewhere. Newer is not always better, unless you believe the marketing guys.
  3. Wow - just read the entire thread - lots of strong opinions out there. My 2 cents: The place I normally play has bent grass greens, and to keep them alive in the Memphis summer, they keep them wet, so extra spin generated by the Pro V1 is a little bit of a waste. Even a cheap ball makes a monster divot and does not go far. Really cheap balls are lousy to chip and putt with, but the mid-range balls like the DT-solo, NXT and Nike super soft are great. If I was buying balls though, I would buy the new TopFlite D2, they seem like a good compromise. (I don't buy balls - I play what I find - we have a lot of nasty ditches on our course - I am playing Bridgestones now and they play fine) The only place I have found that a Prov1 helps is on a course with bermuda greens, they are generally rock hard and every little bit helps. I am not a particulary good golfer, have no official handicap, but generally shoot in the mid/high 80s. Even if the Prov1 would shave strokes off my game, I would not buy them, it just hurts my feelings to pay that much for a ball (cuts down on money I can spend on beer, heh, heh, heh) The only Prov1 balls I play are the one I find, and only when the greens require it. A man has to know his limitations..................
  4. Love it when it works, but it was costing me more strokes than it was saving Damon
  5. Cleveland Launcher Steel, 15 and 19 degree. My swing has changed of late, however, and they are going to be relegated to the basement for a while. Gonna get a 2 hybrid and see how that works, and add an extra wedge.
  6. Nickent 3,4 and 5. Will be getting a 2 shortly and canning my fairway woods. They have not been my friends lately.
  7. I am an engineer, but after 17years, got tired of the corporate BS inflicted upon engineers. I now sell auto parts and shop equipment. Damon
