  1. I've noticed recently that I will go out and play and fall into a perfect groove where the swing feels easy to control. The only discernible memory that I can take away from these moments is how the swing feels at the top. When I set the club properly at the top of the swing I can swing as aggressively as I want I will hit the ball pure. The problem is that I have no mental cues from address position to get me to that position at the top. I use a drill where I'll preset the wrist with forearms and club shaft at 90 degrees, start the swing from there and this will get me to the proper set position at the top of the swing. Effectively the drill forces me to swing on the right plane and i begin to hit the ball pure. My question is: Does anyone have any drills to groove a solid take away so I can go from address to the top of the swing and let er rip! I know what it feels like once I'm there, but I have trouble doing it intentionally. It seems I have it that day or I don't.
  2. I don't understand what you mean by shaft band. please explain.
  3. While I agree we're are not trying to maintain a flat left wrist, a flat left is wrist at impact is important to hitting good shots. Just the end result of doing a few things well. Yup, I agree. I end up with a flat wrist when hitting down on the ball. Guess my point was, when I consciously attempt to pronate or bow the left wrist (Im a righty) I tend to lose control of the clubhead a bit too much and can shank it. When I have both hands working together and just think "hit down" its a more fluid motion that ends up with a good result.
  4. I agree. I am a very high ball hitter and my tendency is to scoop the ball when I flip my hands into the impact area too much. The result is that i hit about 10 yards shorter than usual(sometimes more) with 7 iron for example. When I tried to pronate(flatten) my left wrist more it did lead to a lower more penetrating trajectory but my consistency went out the window. i started to hostle shots with alarming consistency. In the end I gave up the flat wrist thing and concentrated on hitting down on the ball, firing my hands through the impact area, holding my posture and making sure I was in a balance with my left leg on follow through. Not sure if this helps but it works for me.
  5. With all due respect to you, I think you have been playing golf for so long that you cant see the forest through the trees anymore. Or maybe you just spend too much time in there (just kidding *nudge*). Whoever said that it is your belief system that is getting in the way, is bang on. You're decreeing the truth and posting it so you can inform everyone, "the way it is". I'm sure you're intentions were to try and dispel the myth of the golf swing with the expertise you have acquired over the last 60 years to achieve a 13.4 hdcp. A noble intention for sure and one to be appreciated. The problem is you come across as a bit of a righteous douche bag that is incapable of having a discussion. You start out wanting to help and then you end up defending what you understand to be the truth. Sound familiar? I'll bet you have become a professional at explaining why you're right about everything over the last 60 year! Lighten up a little and listen to others sometime. Especially the guy who manages the site. Have you seen that impact position on his avatar? One word to describe that... SWEEETTTTT!!! M- footnote: Douche bag = An individual who has an over-inflated sense of self worth, compounded by a low level of intelligence, behaving ridiculously in front of colleagues with no sense of how moronic he appears.
