  1. I've only been playing golf regularly for a couple years and generally shoot in the low 90s. Break 90 every now and then when playing well by my standards. Anyway, like every golfer, I'd like to play better and with more consistency and I'm willing to practice. I go to the range once or twice a week but I read something a couple weeks ago that got me to thinking....there is a very big difference in going to the range and pounding/chipping/putting balls and actually "practicing." I'm curious as to what some of you guys who practice frequently do as far as a routine. I'm not even sure I know how to "practice" and obviously going out and hitting balls helps to some degree with consistency but I don't guess it's utilizing my time at the range as well as I could be. TIA.
  2. The very first time I played golf (I was probably 11 or so) my dad entered me in some kid's tournament on the local par three. I had no idea what I was doing out there but I had played baseball pretty much my whole life so I at least knew how to make decent contact. I came to a long par three (170 yards or so) and I hit my driver as hard as I could and hit a wicked slice into the woods. The ball hit the top of a tree trunk about 70 yards from the hole and bounced hard left onto the green within three feet of the hole. I won a prize for closest to the pin. Ha, those were the days... BTW, RTR!
  3. Right about 325 and it was slightly uphill. 490yd par five. Crushed it and got a solid kick off of a hill. Hit seven Iron from about 165 and went over by about a yard. Still got the birdie, though. Average drive is probably in the 260ish range.
  4. Got my first ever eagle on Saturday! 472 yard par 5. The fairway becomes very narrow off the tee so I used 5w and hit it well right down the middle, then went 3w to about 10 yards to the left of the green but pin-high. Chipped in for my first eagle. Sorry for bragging, but it was awesome.
  5. First post. I used to have the same issue the first few months I began playing. I'm still not sure why my drives go high when I go back to my old drivers, but I began using an 8° and it has helped a ton with trajectory and slice. I was told by a pro that my swing speed was sufficient to use a lower degree and it has helped a ton, not only with my fade, but distance, too, because I get a ton more roll. Also, sometimes if the ball is too far back in my stance at address, I will slice the ball because the club face doesn't have time to close. Anyways, just thought I'd jump in and offer my opinion.
