  1. So you are saying less lower body turn = more hook? See I was thinking the more I turned my lower body the more i was likely to close the club face or even Over close it and smoke it left. Maybe I am going at it backwards then. It's hard to say, but yeah now I either hit straight or pull the hell out of it, almost NEVER a fade or slice.
  2. thanks, ill take a look, gonna hit the range soon.
  3. So I stopped slicing the ball with my driver and mid irons quite a while ago, however now I seem to be hitting some hooks or maybe just a really severe pull. I'm not really sure what I'm doing that causes it, I try taking my hands to the inside more then to the outside more, but somehow once I start doing it I just seem to keep pulling balls ridiculously sharply to the left, any clue on what causes it and what I may be doing? The weird thing is I think I'm hitting my balls further than ever, I went to the range 2 days ago and was just smashing balls right out of the gate, I couldnt believe it, then after about 20 balls in, HOOKsville... Any ideas?
  4. Thanks guys, I'm going to not touch a club for 2 or 3 days at least and hoping that my old muscle memory resumes, because some how just hitting that ONE bad shot engrained that swing in my muscle memory... We'll see.
  5. Oh man, I can't believe this. I had this happen to me once about a year and a half ago. My score is generally in the mid to high 90s, I was just starting to occasionally hit the 80s when suddenly I couldnt hit a ball, I started makeing more and more changes to try and just make contact until I couldnt even hit a ball more than 20 feet. I finally realized what I was doing wrong when I was on a course, did a practice swing and felt that feeling from before when i would swing a good 5 iron, i was so excited I said to hell with my friend who was out and quickly addressed my ball and hit it and FINALLY made a great solid athletic shot. After that it kept getting a bit better and more consistent. Then I was watching the Masters a few weeks ago and somehow I realized that when I was trying to be safe and affraid of mishitting I over corrected and was not getting the full turn and wrists in. Since then I've been striking the ball better than I have in my life, been going out as much as possible and loving golf again. Then last Monday I'm finishing my round, hit a nice drive on 16 and have a good shot of finally breaking into the 80s again, I go up and hit my 2nd shot fat, no biggie the ball was below my feet, it's a bummer, but I havent had a mishit like that all day and it was a weird lie. So I go for about a 80% sandwedge and TOTALLY shank it, it goes flying to my right and makes a weird flight path. I was a bit bummed, but I seem to shank my sandwedge a LOT lately, it's weird, but as of late if I was above about 50% I would just hit an easy PW, I chip on go on to the next hole and suddenly that was it... I could NO LONGER hit a single ball. It is TOTALLY gone. I've gone to the range, to practice greens, practiced looking in a mirror everything.. it is GONE. The weirdest thing is i CAN hit my 3 and 5 wood, but my irons especially short irons are TOTALLY gone. So anyone have any clues? I'm pretty sure it has something to do with trying to turn and get shoulders into to much and what not, but I don't know, cuz the fact that I can still hit my 5 wood good but PW is totally useless is just crazy... ahh man. I know for an outsider looking in this has to seem funny, but man when you're going through this it's got to be the most frustrating depressing thing apart from someone dying that you can come across...
  6. Wow I had no idea how many interesting stories people had on this subject. You never know where these threads are going to go.
  7. I also think it's just you. You can tell if people are teeing off.. then yeah definetely wait.. But if its been slow all day and bogged down, at least at my courses, sometimes you HAVE to get up behind them or else you're so close to the other green you could get nailed. There isnt always a huge distance from tee box and green. And as long as Im just sitting there bullshitting waiting for the guys in front to get out of driving distance, I dont care if someone drives or walks up.. Hell half the time I shoot the breeze with them a little too. I'm in my mid 20s so I get a kick out of chatting with some of the old timers on the course from time to time. As long as they are totally quiet as we tee off.. which honestly I cant ever remember anyone NOT beeing, then I dont have a problem.. Plus it kind of simulates a little bit of a gallary so.. what the heck. Oh anyway about asking the club.. I just found out two days ago that it is actually against the rules to ask someone what club they are using on the tour. BUT that is DEFINITELY not one of our rules on the course. I go with my friend the majority of the time, and we might have small friendly wagers, or just competing for best score, but overall we arent competing against eachother, we're competeing against the course. If I win but I shot a 102 Im not really going to be very happy. But if I get 4th and I shoot an 85 Im jumping for joy. We pretty much ALWAYS ask eachother what we hit.. Like someone said earlier about the long hitters, sometimes its just to say.. DAMN you hit your 9Iron that far? Im using my 7.. when asking the better players, and sometimes we DO switch clubs after someone similar to our distance hit their 8 and left it short. But it's no big deal, we go out to have fun and enjoy ourselves not to try and enforce every tour rule. One of my groups unwritten rules used to be One mulligan per 9, but once I started shooting a little better and realizing that if you take a mulligan on a bad drive, you are cheating yourself cause you NEED to get practice hitting out of deep bunkers, trees and and deep rough, I stopped doing it.. Plus I dont want to one day be like WOW I shot an 82.. and then in the back of my head KNOW that I had a muligan in there. But a few of the guys i play with still take them. I dont really mind, except for when they use one on a par 3, to me that is REALLY cheap.
  8. I bring my cell phone and put it in one of the pouches on my bag. I turn the ringer off though, and like someone said above, I check it every so often just in case.. not incase of EMERGENCY necessarily, but just in case ANYONE has called me... there are almost always at least one or 2 times when Im waiting for a group to get far enough ahead to tee off... doesnt hurt to see if my gf or dad called or something. Ive been playing a few times when someones cellphone rang, but one time stands out.. I was on the green putting for par, and RIGHT when I putted, the SECOND I did, the guy who was holding the flag had his cell go off.. it was pretty loud too. I missed the putt and he appologized quite a bit.. but I can honestly say it wasnt cause of the phone, I just had a bad line so I wasnt mad really... though it COULD Have been really ugly had someone else been putting or if it DID affect their shot... Im a pretty Mellow guy though.
  9. Wow guys settle down. Of course we would ALL go to the hospital.. I was just kidding.. Obviously even if somehow you DID stay you would NEVER be able to concentrate it would be terrible etc. Man.. the problem with the internet is you REALLY cant hear peoples tones or see their expressions when they say things.. OBVIOUSLY we would all go to the hospital... guess I shouldnt have asked that part sorry.
  10. Hopefully you haven't heard this one.. A man was at the country club for his weekly round of golf. He began his round with an eagle on the first hole and a birdie on the second. On the third hole he had just scored his first ever hole-in-one when his cell phone rang. It was a doctor notifying him that his wife had just been in a terrible accident, she was in critical condition and in the ICU. The man told the doctor to inform his wife where he was and that the he'd be there as soon as possible. As he hung up he realized he was leaving what was shaping up to be his best ever round of golf. He decided to get in a couple of more holes before heading to the hospital. He ended up playing all eighteen, finishing his round shooting a personal best of 61, shattering the club record by five strokes and beating his previous best game by more than 10. He was jubilant ... Then he remembered his wife. Feeling guilty he dashed to the hospital. He saw the doctor in the corridor and asked about his wife's condition. The doctor glared at him and shouted, "You went ahead and finished your round of golf didn't you! I hope you're proud of yourself! While you were out for the past four hours enjoying yourself at the country club your wife has been languishing in the ICU! It's just as well you went ahead and finished that round because it will be more than likely your last! For the rest of her life she will require 'round-the-clock care. And you'll be her care giver!" The man was feeling so guilty he broke down and began to cry. The doctor snickered and said, "Just ****ing with you. She's dead. What'd you shoot?" So the question is... if it happened to you... would YOU finish the round?
  11. Hi guys, I know that the gold medal game was early morning like 3am EST or so, but does anyone know if there will be a replay? I saw a bit of it and it was a pretty close game at times, but didnt get to see it all.. Ive been trying to find out if they will show a replay, Ive seen replay of other olympic events about 20 times, so hopefully they show this, anyone know? Thanks
  12. This happened to me today, it was odd too because, we were out on the course, i said how I wanted to go buy a sleeve of balls but when i walked into the clubhouse I realized I left my wallet in my bag and then it was about time to tee off. Then on the 3rd hole we're waiting for a bit (it's the first par 3 always a little backed up) and one of the guys in our group is showing us this big case of Nike Ones he bought. Four holes later, I TOTALLY shank my drive into the tall grass to the right of the tee box only about 20 yards down... luckily the ladies tees were RIGHT in front so I didnt have to take anything out *ahem* So I dont take muligans unlike my buddy so I go looking in the tall grass, I find a ball and say "here it is, Oh wait no, that's a Pinnacle" I look up the other fairway coming towards us, as I do my friend starts walking up. "That cant possibly be theirs" I say looking at the ball then up at them one last time just to be positive. Then as I look back over, my friend walks up, says "This isn't yours?" Picks it up and pockets it and walks back up the fairway. I didn't say anything but I actually was a little pissed. It looked pretty new and I was using a double kart path scuffed ball that looked like it should be a retired vetran with a purple heart, not a soldier on the front line...
  13. I dont see how he could NOT get good jail time. My brother (who at the time was using drugs a lot) got into a fight with another tweaker, and hit him with a dinner plate... The guy didnt even need stiches just a butterfly bandaid, my brother got 1 year for assult 1 year for assult with a deadly weapon and had to serve 20 months of it. It was his first major offense. True he didnt pay extra for a lawyer, but this guys crime is WAY more serious and life threatening, they didnt say if there were any other blows thrown first or whatever, but if he threw the first blow and did it with a golf club to the guys HEAD i would HOPE he gets a few years, people that are willing to do that to someone are sick. If i was really worried Im getting attacked by someone on the course, I might grab a club and threaten them, or if i absolutely had to i might swing at the chest, leg something, but a HEAD shot are you F*#@ing kidding me? The weird part to me was the guys saying in the story "Yeah usually people stop after the 9th hole to get a few beers and there is always arguments about slow play" REALLY? ALWAYS arguments about it? Sounds like a rough course. I guess thats why I dont golf on weekends...
  14. I know i'm not a celebrity on here or anything but some of you may have read a thread I posted a while back where I crushed my 28 handicap by 10 shooting a 90, then a few days later shot an 87, since then it had been low 90s so still great and the handicap kept coming down. Yesterday I went and had an early tee time, I had to leave my house at 6:30 so I could get there an hour early and get a lot of time to warm up since I've noticed if i dont im REALLY slow starting and usually get an 8 or 7 on the first 2 holes. Only problem was, there was a wreck blocking ALL 4 lanes of the freeway, I end up getting to the course 2 minutes before my tee time. Long story short, I shank the HELL out of 3 shots on the first hole (a par 5) and get a sweet 10 to start with and although I had a string of 3 decent holes I ended up shooting a STAGGERING 110. I actually NEVER lost my temper surprisingly but I actually think it was the first time I didnt really enjoy myself while golfing. I didnt let it get to me, but at about the 15th or 16th hole I realized I really couldnt think of ONE good shot that got me excited.. just a bad day and my confidence was totally shot. So... today I decide to go back to my home course and tee off, it's pretty dry I end up getting about 60 yards from the green, hit a nice smooth chip that hits the front of the green and rolls RIGHT AT IT. The guy with me starts yelling, this could be good... this could be REAL GOOD!! It ends up breaking at the last second and stops about 3 inches from the hole, just beyond, it had the speed, just broke at the last minute. INCHES from my first ever Eagle (i was actually kind of glad because I KNOW my regular buddies that I golf with wouldnt have believed me) So for the first time in my gofling career I'm actually UNDER par at a point during the day, I par the next and now am still 1 under after 2 holes. I end up with 43 at the turn which ties my best ever for 9, and unfortunately am only able to get 2 holes in after the turn becuase it was late and some tournament was backing up the place like crazy so I left, but MAN, I feel SO much better, I was TOTALLY bummed, and managed to bounce back right where I was before... PHEW.. Man this can be an emotional game :D
  15. I would have THOUGHT that those erasers are mainly just for taking stains off so I didnt really see why it would be good on clubs, since at least on my clubs Im usually trying to clean off grass and what not in the grooves. BUT I FREAKING LOVE the magic eraser, that is the BEST damn cleaning product I've ever seen... HOW DOES IT WORK? It's MAGIC!!
