  1. Is that the reason simply because you say it is? Have you read this thread? no,a guy called Dave Pelz who is a short game guru, showed me this year all the facts.was really interesting.Especially the reason why Phil didnt bring a book out about the long game.Fasinating stuuf.Just love these guys.
  2. oh sorry my mistake.Handicaps have improved by an average of 2 shots since early 90s,wow,massive difference. IACAS this is a forum, and i would have thought you would realise as an expert that its peoples opinions and there is no reasonto be rude.Thankyou
  3. In the past 25 years the golf industrie have invested millions into clubs to make the ball fly further. They have been successful and the average player hits it longer than before. He also hits it straighter through the more forgiving of the club. But most golf courses havent changed in Length. It is a fact that the Handicap average world wide has not improved by 1 stroke. And the reason for this ,is the golfer spends just as less time working on their short games as before.Unless your consistant from 100 yards then you havent a chance Now on the Tour scores have improved considerably, because the guys are bombing it out their 300 plus and the fairway bunkers dont come into play. And scores of more than 20 under par, which was rarely heard of before, are winning tournaments.A round of 62 happens most weeks. So the difference is with the Pros is they are longer than before, and there short games a red hot,as always.Phil Mickelson says that in practice for every long shot he hits,he hits 3 short ones, not suprised hes hot from 100 yards.I garentee who wins the masters holes lots of putts -
  4. Love your thinking Spyder. Why not see if the Chippendales are in town,Buy her a ticket for the show, she will be out all night, and you can watch the golf in peace. She may not even come back, naaa Guess thats too much to ask....enjoy the golf
  5. i am lucky that my mrs is a golfer, well i say a golfer, she come around the golf course with me and strokes the ball along. .Since i told her to swing the same way as she hoovers the house, shes become a fine player.I know golf should stand for GENTS ONLY LADYS FORBIDDEN, but there is the advantage that the old girl likes to swing sometimes, and also enjoys watching the golf on TV. So the Masters will be watched all 4 days from start to finish.I live in the Austrian Alps, theres loads of snow outside,so its in front of the log fire with a good red wine and enjoy the golf.Cant wait. So to all you fellow golfers Enjoy watching this great tournament, hope i dont get too emotional on the back 9 sunday night and start blubbing.

  8. reakingeighty thanks for response.Just one quick thing.I am going ahead with an idea ive had for a long time and that is online golf lessons. I am going to need to build a website.the site will mainly be for my members to log onto, and see their swing videos, join the site, make payment for membership and read info about the golf swing.
  9. breakingeighty interesting forum from you. would love to come up with a online golf buisiness which involves coaching.I have been a golf intructor for 20 years, and have considered online golf lessons.Any ideas would be much appreciated.many thanks,David
  10. joro Its a nice life been a golf pro.If you want to become a coach then one thing i can highly recommend is learning German.Once you become Qaulified Pro you could apply for work in Switzerland,Germany,or Austria where golf is booming.Im from the UK and moved to Austria 10 years ago.So many people want to play golf here but not enough good teachers wiho speak German you can spend all day on the range coaching, charging 100 dollars an hour 6 days a week. Its worth considering.I feel in the usa and uk there are so many pros.Unless a big job comes along and your lucky enough to get the job and making money is your prime target then europe i the place.Good Luck, Dave

    Going Pro

Borf, Heres my advice. NEVER NEVER write on a forum asking people what they think are your chances of making it as a player.Even if there was a forum with only PGA Tour Players, they wouldnt bother replying because like everyone else,no one cares if you make it.But the biggest problem is the Amature Golfer will just send you negative advice.Look at all what people have been saying ,is this going to help you... Your obvioulsy a good player,so what does a tour player do better than you.He maybe longer off the tee,i dont know how far you hit it,but its not a big factor. He is more consistant, which comes from practice, but the 2 biggest things that seperate good golfers to getting to Tour level is 1.They are so hot with their wedges and putter. And 2. They fully believe in what that are trying to achieve and dont listen to any negative stuff. A perfect example is Irelands Padraig Harrington. When he was an Assistant Pro,he used to tell people he wanted to get on Tour.Everyone laught at him,he was such a bad player. He would spend all day around the pitching green, and he knew people were laughing behind his back.He later said knowing this pushed him harder. Its up to you to make yourself good.If you spend 4 hours a day 7 days a week fro 100 yards and less for the next 12 months I garentee you will shoot under par consistantly,You then turn pro, enter some mini tours and go for it. You have one chance,go for it,give it your best,I also stronly advise you to read Dr Bob Rotella - The Unstopable Glfer best of luck, regards,David
  12. Hello Jacob. I love your post, and love your passion for the game of Golf.I hope i can help you.I took up golf at the age of 10 and became good quickly.I was playing off handicap 1 when i was 14 then scratch at 16,I turned Pro at 17, and made it onto the South African Tour few years later.Never won but made good money. When i got to 30,I decided to give up my job as golf coach, and just go and play, get myself a top swing coach,a short game coach,a mental coach and fitness coach.I got expert advice on how to become great, but i never did become great,i went backwards. I would love to be like you again, young and starting out in the golf world,And if i could be,there would be one thing i would change to what i did when i tried to become great at golf, and that would be..... STOP TRYING Your scores are not important, just go and play, just enjoy it,practice hard for sure, hve someone keep an eye on your game and help you improve, but just remember its only a game, and by doing this your scores will take care of themselves. I wish you all the best.Kind Regards,David
