  1. I've been pin high but it was barely a par 4. Only about 240 on a little "executive course" outside Boulder, Co.
  2. Who knows what Tiger can accomplish when he really gets focused on something. I wouldn't underestimate him.
  3. I hope you didn't have to pay much to play that dog track..... Must be a lot of nice courses around there....
  4. Mr. Sandman is on the money. Don't sweat it!!! Just go play your game and have a good time, one shot at a time. Play smart, play within yourself. You know what your "go to" shots are.
  5. First of all, 200 dollars seems reasonable to me. Second, the X 14 pro has less offset than the X 14. Both are perimeter weighted, cavity back designs, which I highly recommend someone new to the game. A lot of new players tend to slice the ball and, I believe, that more hosel offset aids the less experiences player in combating that tendancy. That said, I played the X14's for a year or two. I liked them but switched to a club with less offset after falling in love with Cleveland C10 wedges which don't have a lot of offset. Have I confused you enough, yet??? I think it's a pretty good deal. Can you get your hands on some to try out at the range?
  6. 1. Absolutely, take lessons and get the fundamentals down. It'll save you a lot of frustration in the long run and keep you from having to unlearn bad habits later. (Read about golf, too. Golf Magazine and Golf Digest have a lot of information. Some of the info in golf magazines will, initially, be beyond your skill level but after awhile the info starts to sink in and you'll gain a better understanding about what causes what). 2. I think you should stay away from your dad's ancient Wilsons and get into something that you feel confident with. New clubs are definitely an investment. But, folks are selling and trading good gear all the time, looking for what works for them. Try to find a good used set of Callaways, if you feel confident playing them. You might want to have them regripped but that's not that expensive. 3. The most important thing ---- Have Fun!!!!
  7. It's stroke and distance, right? Gotta play from where you originally hit from.
  8. You're absolutely right, Scott. This reminds me a a thread I saw about whether or not to return found clubs. The game is about honor.
  9. If you opt to go ahead and hit, it'll be the one time you hit it square and make "a career shot". Don't ever hit into anyone. Whether the ball is just rolling or not, it's just going to cause problems. If you're going to lay up, then fine, but if the green is your target, it's your intention to hit the green and there are people on it then you've got to wait.
  10. Sure there is. If you hit the fairway mark a _. If you hit the green in regulation turn it into a +. Then write down the number of putts on each hole. Then you be able to see what you need to work on.
  11. Congratulations on your new addiction!!! At least it's a healthy one. Hey, it's your first time out. Don't even think about the score. It doesn't matter. What matters is that you had a good time and you want to keep playing. Start studying the golf swing, work on fundamentals (even if you have to bite the bullet and take some lessons) and enjoy yourself. You'll find that there are many benchmarks in scoring. First you'll rejoice that you've broken a hundred, then ninety and so on and so on. You'll always want to make a better score but that's part of what's so great and makes golf the sport of a lifetime.
  12. 26 putts is pretty awesome without the "what if I two putted" Good job!!!!! What was your score???
  13. I got paired up with a guy who used a tee for every shot and purposefully hit the ball out of bounds because it was shorter than playing the dog legged fairway. Oh, did I mention he was teaching his new daughter-in-law the game as well?!!... Maybe I could hook you up with that guy for a round... You two could start your own rules committee.
  14. I think you've spooked yourself AND you're your own Cheech. Get back out there and play your game. Take a look at what you've said about your game and relax. You're playing to about a 23 handicap as it is. Just go out there and play your game one shot at a time and have fun. You'll get past this in no time.
  15. It's only someone else's golf club at the end of the day....
