  1. Went out at lunch for a quick 9 holes on a Par 3 course. Shot a 36. Brilliant move of the day: Hole 5, 170 yards. Good contact and the ball is right on target to the pin....and then lands about 30 yards short of the green...wtf?!?!? Oh..wait...what's this, I'm holding my 9i instead of my 6i!
  2. Seconded for me. I am a bad putter, but putting after GIR goes into the realm of terrible. Chipping has been my strong point the last 4-5 rounds I've played so I have a lot more confidence doing that.
  3. 9 holes on Saturday for a disappointing 51 on a fairly easy course. Things of note: - Was actually really happy with my putting (17 putts). I'm starting to make harder putts and even holing some longer ones. -Chipping was better than usual too, minus one shank -My Driver felt alright today. 3 fairways and none of my misses put me out of play to badly. Hit a couple nice 250yd power fades. -My approach shots killed me. Way too many thin, worm burners on the fairways and couldn't hit my irons straight. -I have to learn to hit out of the sand. 2 bunkers, one I got out of on first try but left it well short of the pin. Second took 3 shots to get out and the third barely made it. -Golf Thursday, skiing Friday and golf again Saturday...I love Colorado!
  4. Funny, I just had a golf ball epiphany today on the course. I had been using soft 2 piece balls for awhile because I thought that fit my playing style and handicap. Most recently I was using a Bridgestone e6+ with varying success. I had a real hard time controlling it off the tee although that is what it was suppose to do. At hole #11 today, because there was no one behind me, I decided to hit two shots. One with the e6+ and another with a Pro V1. First shot with e6+ gets sliced bad. Second shot with Pro V1 gets smoked just off the fairway to the left on a slight pull. Stuck with the Pro V1 the rest of the round and I could feel the difference on every shot. I guess the point is that it is really just about getting out there and trying balls and going on the feel. If you want to find the ball for you the best thing is going to be to go try out a sleeve. You can read all the specs in the packaging and all the reviews you want, but you just have to play the balls to figure it out.
  5. Today shot a 52/48 100 in amazing Colorado weather. Was a very up and down round, it seemed like I'd either par or bogey 3 on each hole. The greens got a little hairy, especially on a couple very sloped ones, so had a ton of 3 putts. Also, i discovered that I'm playing the wrong type of ball, as I switched balls at #11 and it was like night and day. Hoping to play again Saturday before the cold weather comes back.
  6. In the summers I like to play early in the morning and I'll usually walk those rounds. It is really relaxing for me to be our there when the course is fairly quiet and peaceful. Any other time I tend to ride. I don't really like to be the guy in a foursome who walks when everyone else is riding.
  7. 1. Had basically given up on golf, went to the driving range for the hell of it, swung surprisingly well, started going regularly again. 2. Realized clubs were very out of date, bought new irons and driver. 3. Actually manned up and played golf instead of just hitting at the range. 4. Stopped cheating and taking mulligans. 5. Saw scoring average drop from 110+ to 100 over the next 2 months. 6. Watched "oobgolf" handicap drop from 36 to 23. 7. Broke 100 for the first time ever (and then a couple more times). 8. Scored first birdie ever! 9. Addicted!
  8. Last season it was probably about 25-30% from around 100yds. I had an issue where I was pushing my wedge shots a lot and missing to the right of the greens. I hope to have that problem figured out this season. Golfing tomorrow so I guess I'll find out.
  9. I play public courses 100% of the time. Mainly because I really don't want to spring for a membership. However, living in Denver, the city has a ton of great public courses. Even the city run muni's are decent and well maintained. Of course you get the same problems with public courses anywhere with slow rounds and difficulty of getting tee times on weekends. However, there are enough options where it isn't the end of the world.
  10. I started out my '09 campaign by sticking it 10 feet from the hole on a 150 yard par 3 with a tough pin location. Naturally I 2 putted for par and the rest of the round went down hill from there, however I has pretty happy with my ball striking. The poor round in general was due to rusty short game issues that I need to clear up.
  11. There are a lot of respectable ways to for a man to die. I'm pretty sure getting taken out by a lady pink is NOT one of them!
  12. I play the middle boxes (whites on most courses) 90% of the time. There are a couple shorter yardage executive courses that I play regularly where I'll play the tips.
  13. Break 90 Break 45 on 9 (hit 45 once last season) Get driver back under control (seems to be a yearly occurance) Become a consistent 2 putter Get my unofficial handicap below 20 -On the subject I guess get an official handicap Have fun and don't get worked up when I play terrible.
  14. Yesterday shot a 97. I had a very consistent 45 on the front and a cr@ptastic 52 on the back 9 including three 4 putts.
  15. Most GIR Most Fairways Lowest Total Putts
