  1. First one that came to my mind is Mark Brooks (1996 PGA) Although he does have 7 PGA tour victories under his belt. Probably Beem is the winner here.
  2. What's the point of 1200 bunkers anyway? I wasn't enamored with the golf course as all the networks were...mickey mouse design if you ask me.
  3. Aren't there videos out there by Tom Watson and Sean O' Hair advocating the same thing? Not that I agree, because you do need to slide the hips, just wanted to point out there are pros who say the same thing.
  4. Eric, thanks, thats awesome. So your head does dip slightly. I was at the range yesterday and struggling. But when I focus on the shoulder down and deep hands, almost exaggerating the feeling, I make great contact. It just feels so strange because I am used to moving off the ball and bring the club up more.
  5. Can I get the "left shoulder down" (on the takeaway) concept explained? I understand you shouldn't move off the ball, which creates a level shoulder turn. So is "shoulder down" term used to show the opposite of this, or do you actually move your shoulder down on the take away. Wouldn't my head dip?
  6. Kostis should not be analyzing swings on tv if he doesn't know what he is talking about it. I just saw him analyze Wilson's iron swing about an hour ago, and he clearly mentioned Wilson using SnT, and said he tilts back to the right on his downswing, and that's the tilt part of the technique. I'm just learning the swing and have read the book, that is not what I understood the tilt part to be about. Oh, and someone mentioned that Andy and Mike shouldn't have labeled the swing -- from what I have heard (not sure if true or not), Golf Digest said they were not going to print the original article about the swing technique (the one with Baddeley) unless they gave it a name. Andy and Mike balked, and Charlie Wi said "tilt and stacked", so then GD reversed it to say "Stack and Tilt". FWIW.
  7. keep weight on left foot, narrow stance, cozy up to the ball. When I shank or flub a shot, its because I have set up too far away from the ball.
  8. I find this hard to believe, maybe it's because the books I get don't usually have a lot of illustrations -- but, I am in the middle of reading SnT, and I find it has a good amount of pictures and illustrations -- either way, its one of the better books I have read, plus, it is helping my game. I would also recommend Andrew Rice's "It's all about impact', and Shawn Clements DVD and YouTube videos.
  9. I'm a 30 hdcp and I have an awesome practice swing.
  10. I'm sure he's a good teacher, but I didn't like the 'roll the forearms to hit a draw' segment last night. I'm a high handicapper, but that feeling doesn't work for me.
  11. I am halfway through the book, and I also have been reading Andrew Rice's book, which incorporates some SnT principles. I went to the range tonight, and not having read the entire book, I just concentrated on keeping my weight forward. I didn't have much success after one bucket, it was my typical inconsistent swing. Even though it was super hot, I got another bucket, and decided to concentrate more on the left shoulder down and in, and the hands inward. Again, not real consistent, so I thought I would exagerrate the down and in shoulder turn and hands inward feeling. It felt really weird, like I was dipping too much and swinging so flat -- probably I guess because I am so used to turning my shoulders more behind the ball, and taking my arms up -- but I was making crisp contact. Ball flight was not the stock draw, more of a fade, but i was encouraged by the contact. No thins, fatsies, or shanks in the entire bucket -- for me that's unreal. My swing felt more circular, which I guess that is what it is supposed to feel like. Distance was not the greatest, though I attribute that to still learning the swing (and range balls!). Can't wait to get back out there and incorporate the other principles. btw, Andrew Rice's tips on the short game are golden!
  12. I'd like to bring this thread back to life. The role of the right hand on the grip is also perplexing to me. I've been told that the right should face the target, but with my strong overlap grip, there's no way my right hand can face the target, it ends up underneath the club more. If I interlock, I can get the right hand facing the target, but the palms aren't facing each other. ??????
