  1. Mickelson -2 Woodland -2 Woods -12 (LOL)
  2. I think Phil will be in the zone the first two days and have the lead halfway. The super grouping is perfect for him combined with his laser like focus during majors and his desire to win the US Open more than anything. I really hope he gets it done
  3. I've struggled with a huge slice for years both lefty and righty, and haven't had much success with a strong/weak grip. The best results come with a strong grip when I focus on my bottom hand squaring up at impact. 90% of the time my natural tendency is to hold on to the lag and hit the ball with a very open face and strong top hand. The more I strengthen my grip the more I hold on to it and the worse my release gets. I've played hockey for 15+ years and was wondering why I can hit a moving puck perfect every single time but can't even hit a golf ball sitting still. I grabbed my hockey stick and took my grip just to see what differences there were. Turns out my natural grip is my top hand very strong (thumb supporting the back of the stick) and a weak bottom hand. Put the back of your top hand facing the target and turn it 60*, then put the bottom hand on where it normally would be with a neutral grip (target line going perpendicular through the back of the hand). I did this grip and took a couple swings and was amazed at how easy it was to turn the clubface through impact. I got both the sensation of holding my top hand off and squaring the face with the bottom hand. I haven't had a chance to hit balls yet (going to go as soon as I get off work) but was wondering if anybody else has a strange grip like this? The one issue I have is that it doesn't fit together very well (in hockey your hands are split so it's different) so I may have to use a 10 finger grip or move my thumb around.

    Practice balls?

this DOES NOT work. I made some and they all shattered with like a half swing, theres no way the real ones are made of pvc
  5. That was the story of my last month almost, every week I would just suck and kept getting worse to the point where I didn't want to play anymore. Then one day it just clicked, and when you hit that one perfect shot you jsut want to keep playing.

    Practice balls?

Those look pretty sweet, I'm going to make some when I get home today. In case anybody is wondering, 1 1/4" pvc has a diameter of 1.66" (a golf ball is 1.68", so its almost perfect), so just cut out sections that are 1.66" long. The walls are about .2" thick, do maybe do like a .15" bevel on each end. I'll post back with how it works out later I'm too cheap to buy them online, plus making them will be fun
  7. I'm doing a similar thing with my ipod touch. I have all the images stored on it, however I also want a score card built in. I might try and just make a small application that does this
  8. you can find lots of videos online or try your local library and see if they have any books/videos. with that I agree with jking and go: 1 - Lessons 2 - Range 3 - Equipment 4 - Videos
  9. Yep, I hear you man. Right now when I swing I get up to speed at about 30-45 degrees before I hit the ball, and then just coast and maintain speed, which throws everything off. I'm going to focus on keeping the swing smooth with a constant acceleration through the ball.
  10. I think this will help me a lot. I always thought you needed to swing nice and slow, and lately i've just been hitting the ball all over the place. I swing less than 50% (still hit 160-170 with 5 iron), but it's really inconsistent. Next time I go to the range I'm going to focus on accelerating through the ball and see how it works.
  11. I try to emulate ernie els swing, i'm almost the same build as he is and he has a really nice swing. does anyone know why my name is pink and I can't create new posts?
  12. haha, perfect quote. My money is on the pro, I don't think it just randomly came up, he's probably done it before and is trying to hustle you for money
  13. i'm ridiculously ambidextrous, it's almost a split between my hands. righty: golf, tennis, writing. lefty: throwing, hockey, lacrosse. When I started golfing I actually practiced both ways, and eventually decided to be a righty because clubs are more available and easier to find, lol. edit: why is my name pink?
