  2. A) "She knew..." that's exactly why she said you're kidding me" What competitive edge did she gain on a sub 2' putt? B) I agree she knows the rule,,, when was the last time you were a 1/2" - 1" off in your placement or better yet when was that last time you drove +2 over the speed limit hell in this comparison when was the last time you drove .25mph over the speed limit. C) Evidently other sport references aren't ever relevant in this topic so sorry doesn't qualify
  3. OK golf is special... I understand the rules but don't understand the application/concept of this particular situation, similar to law there is the law and then there is the legal interpretation/understanding/meaning. As an avid golfer the rules of golf are screwed up. Can you name another sport in which the highest level athlete can't tell you that they broke the rule OR EVEN UNDERSTAND THE RULING and on top of it all be penalized day(s) later for the infraction.
  4. 100% agree and while we are at it there was a hold during the Cowboy's playoff game which kept them from winning that I just found so 5 months later let's fix this.. Or more realistic is the Atlanta Braves "infield fly in 2012" after the fact it was admitted there was a mistake but non the less never corrected the Cards went on to play. I can live with a real "ump/ref" screw up better than a random call in. I'm probably not the first to present this question but what happens if this occurred on Sunday and is called Monday?
  5. I have mixed feelings on the replacement of a broken club. I understand that it rarely occurs but, it does occur. While I realize that the odds of this scenario are extremely small the first scenario that came to my head was a guy like Dustin Johnson is in contention for a major vs a guy like Brooks Koepka and D.J.'s driver implodes on the first hole. Why not let the guy get a new driver? How was the golfer supposed to know his equipment limitations / breaking point? How does this justify potentially the largest penalty in golf besides D.Q.? I am by no means a rules expert but actually thought that this was one of the rules that was correct or at least nearly correct to begin with. My other question on this rule is if a guy starts one club short and a club breaks can he add a club mid-round? I'm not suggesting this method by any means but there have been multiple occasions that I or playing partners don't have a full bag due to various reasons.
  6. I had not fully thought of all of the scenarios that you are all discussing with the flag stick rule and it is now making me question my original thought process. What I like about it is that we are not all playing in foursomes or with a caddie. Just the other day I played with 1 other guy racing the sun and on multiple occasions we were both on the front / off the green one would chip and the other was putting prior to the stick being pulled. We were able to get 9 in and only had about 45 minutes to do so. If someone was close we pull the pin but if not we continued play. Golf Channel this morning quoted 7 minutes a round saved. We didn't have another 7 minutes of daylight.
  7. I would like to see the odds of punching out of woods versus hitting a ball that's in the drink. I would leave it all at a 1 stroke but would venture to guess that getting out of the woods is significantly easier than water.
  8. The most unique one I have encountered was playing on a course with a short par 4 dogleg right. I step up and cut the corner putting the ball on the back fringe. After the group realizes what I did they tell me it's an illegal shot and that I have to re-tee and hit 3. I argue the point for a while but all they would say is local rule says you can't cut the corner. No local rules were discussed prior to start but I was a long ways from home and it wasn't worth it. How should this be handled or what could I have done different sans asking for every "local rule" be read prior to start.
  9. Great players don't make great coaches...However there are a lot of people that learn by watching so you should be able to do what you coach even if you are 100 yards shorter. When you are talking about the pro coaches there is no way that they can beat their pros on a routine basis but not too many of us have this issue yet. If there is a "perfect swing" throw it out of the window because most people will not be able to emulate it consistently due to muscle mass, injury, etc. This is where a coach belongs. Pro's also have each club fitted nearly perfectly... how many am's/hacker's can make this point.
  10. I currently have an Amp Cell 7*+ I run it on the bottom side and still feel like I have a high launch compared to other clubs I have tried/played but I have had good success with it. If you want to shape a shot at all this is not the club for you.
