  1. The reason I kept my own card was due to the that I normally like to keep them and look over them once the season has past in order to determine how I had improved. Normally I will keep my own score but for this round, I thought, what the heck, I will keep everyone else's scores as well. This will be the last time I play for money. This was my first time, and I was hesistant. I'm not a huge fan of bringing money into my hobbies. I enjoy it more when I'm just out there to have fun. However, I thought $10 would be work getting the guys off my back. Knowing what I know now, I will probably just lay low, not mention it and just not play for money. $40, the pot, is not worth possibly losing a golf partner. I agree with some of the other posters on this board in that, if it is just for fun, his fudging his scores will only hurt him.
  2. Hey guys, I recently got done with a round where I was playing with my buddies. We played for just a little bit of money, 10 dollars each and all goes to the winner after 9. All seemed to be going well, except for the end where one of my buddies, the one in charge of the score card, claimed he won. Everyone agreed, except me, because I kept my own score card in secret to try to verify the results. (If I'm giving someone 10 dollars, they should have earned it). However, he claimed he had won, where my score card showed someone else. I did not mention it to him until we were all leaving where I just hinted at knowing he had cheated. He just shrugged his shoulders and left. What would you have done? Called him out right in front of the other two guys? What if it wasn't for money? I guess it's me, but I hate it when people fudge their numbers, even if it is just to make them look better. This game is all about honesty, but I don't know anymore...
  3. I'd like to say I've been improving as well. This was my first summer to really take golf seriously, and I was shooting a 130 at the beginning. Last night, I shot a 40 for 9 holes. My ball striking has improved dramatically, but what is most impressive, is my putting. I only 3 putt like once a round or so. I'd like to see myself shooting 45 or lower consistently. It all depends on how I'm striking my irons.
  4. Bingo! You've hit the nail on the head. I've only seen one person do it consistently, but he's tall, skinny, flexible and lanky. Not to mention he's been playing for about 15 years, so he's definitely skilled. That being said, I can only get it to about 250 or 275 when I'm so so lucky!
  5. I am a college student, going to be a senior, who is aspiring to be a high school Chemistry teacher.
  6. Good lord, all of this sounds painful. I've never had any sort of strange injury like that, but after this post, I think I may be due. The only injury I've incurred is that my shoulder seems pretty torn up from swinging the club too much and not resting it. I'm taking a few days off .
  7. That does genuinely suck. I've been pretty lucky, as well, with playing partners that were strangers. Normally this will happen if I catch up to a single or two-some, I normally play alone. They will usually absorb me and we have a good time. I've never let a stranger touch my clubs, let alone swing them. No offense, but I think I'd have to be inebriated or high to let that happen, but then again, I am very untrusting when it comes to sharing my investment. Is this practice normal in most clubs where a starter will pair up strangers? I've never seen this happen, but then again, the clubs I go to are normally not busy.
  8. The 3 courses I have played... Brook Hill Golf Course in Brookville, IN This course is very well groomed most of the time and has it's fair share of challenges. However, from the blue tees it is somewhat short. I would give it a 4. Buck Point Country Club in Liberty, IN This course is quite new but is very, very challenging. If you are not accurate on this course, it will eat you alive. Well groomed and has a beautiful view over the Brookville Dam. I would give it a 4. Spring Hills Golf Course in Hanover, IN This course is very, very new...established only 7 years ago. It has the potential to be very nice, but it just needs to grow up...i.e. the trees need to grow to help shape it. It has great prices and a friendly staff. It also gets a 4.
  9. At the beginning of the season, I played the Northwestern Concorde irons, but they were a piece of you know what. I got these 8 years ago from my father for Christmas as a way to get me into golf. They were serviceable until I decided to get really serious, which was this summer. I ordered the Titleist AP1's and could not be happier. Best 700 dollars a spent.
  10. Love the 3w I'm playing, which is the Cobra LD Speed series.
  11. I really do something quite similar to this as well. However, since green speed is a huge factor, I usually go to the practice green and putt with backswings to my big toe and see the distance the ball goes. From there, I am able to adjust how far the backswing goes for each putt. The important thing here is that you keep your putter pace the same, otherwise this really does not help at all!!!
  12. Fred Funk is the man!! Ya gotta love him. I also feel bad for him, though taking nothing away from the Big Cat. Romero deserved this one.
  13. I'd be pretty torqued if someone started stole and started wearing my hat. However, like you, I probably would have mentioned it then if he turned out to be such an "amazing" person, then I would have let it go. Truly astounding...
  14. I have the Ogio Grom, and honestly, I love it. The one main issues is that I'm still fighting with the legs, but I should get that figured out soon. Other than that, it's 150 at dickssportinggoods.com, but well worth it!!
  15. I've talked to a couple of people who have "lost the pop" in their Superquad. I recently got one before I heard about this phenomenon. Have you or anyone else had this problem? What is causing it? I recently heard someone had a "stress fracture" in their shaft. Ideas? Also, has anyone other than me had a problem with "stripping" their moveable weights? Thanks! DGart09
