  1. Because golf is one of the few sports that are 100% dependent on you performing at your best with no one else to blame. It depends you you honing and improving your game and keeping it together when it counts. Because it's relaxing and exhilarating at the the same time. Because you can get as zen or hardcore as you want depending on mood.
  2. This book changed my approach to golf. For years while I was younger as a caddie and playing golf in school I was a power game player and a decent putter. The rest of my game was an after thought. I had a number of good games but I was far from consistent. After reading this book a few years ago and then reading his other book on putting my approach to the game evolved. Getting off the tee, while important for obvious reasons, was so far less important than getting it in from ~100yards from the pin. I attended one of his one day clinics in Chicago and have religiously practiced my short game at a local multihole range ( Boilingbrook practice facility in suburban Chicago ) and as a result my game is predictable and consistent. When I stand over a 65yd wedge shot I understand all of my options using the 4x3 wedge system. The mechanical nature of the 4x3 gives you the confidence you need to play under pressure but to say that it doesn't require feel and control is crazy. I highly recommend this book and the other Pelz books to everyone.
  3. Programmer for a trading firm and a software developer in my spare time.
  4. Either my 56, 60, or 64 depending on situation and course. I love using the 64 as I feel like it gives me the most control to get it out and stop quickly but it's a very easy club to mishit and go nowhere. You really have to practice with it before using it in a real round.
  5. Driving from Michigan to Illinois last evening every single golf course I drove by had a huge amount of standing water. I can't help but think this is going to lead to an early end to the midwest golf season. I guess I'm going to have to plan a trip down south this winter to play.
  6. I think about alignment and posture but the final though in my mind each and every time is "Tempo". So long as I have consistent tempo everywhere in my swing I find that everything else just falls into place.
