  1. I have and have heard a lot of good ones, most of them are in here already in various wordings :) A decent shot but a player not happy with it - "that was a condom shot." "It's safe but it didn't feel as good as you wanted it to." A putt left just short - "That was a Cuban putt....just needed one more revolution" A terrible putt - "Other than the speed and the line, that was pretty good!" Frequently when I mishit a chip really bad and it's obvious I yell "Be Good!" or "Get in the hole" that seems to generate some laughter and thus make me feel less terrible about it :)
  2. Great thread! I read the first 3 pages and the last and have one question - my apologies if it has been addressed. Did you get 'fitted' for the type of ball you are playing? I can also tell you that the HI comes down the most with practice on and around the greens, does your course have a decent practice facility? Kudos to you for your dedication and love for the game, some call it a disease or addiction, whatever it is..... I have it too :)
  3. Favorites: Nick Watney Graham DeLaet Louis Oosthuizen Dislikes: Jim Furyk Dustin Johnson Ricky Barnes
  4. I was hoping for a MAJ pairing with Woods. Miguel may have had something to say about Woods' generous hazard drop from a few years back when he won and something tells me he would NOT let him get away with that again :)
  5. Eric Axley Russ Cochran Greg Chalmers
  6. Seriously? That's crazy Off the top of my head: Bubba Watson Phil Mickelson Mike Weir Brian Harman Steve Flesch
  7. Didn't someone in Woods' camp also call Trevino 15 or so years ago and ask advice on the best color combo to wear during a Sunday round? ;)
  8. Is M.A. Jimenez on twitter? I feel like he'd say some pretty cool things no matter what. Allenby is not in town this week, so the nightlife should be pretty quiet. All golfers remember to set your alarms and backup alarms and make sure you know what time zone you're in!
  9. I usually put down a $3.00 team for each tourney (cheap I know) I'm doing pretty well this year but don't think I'm lucky enough for the millionaire maker so I put down 6 different squads at $3 instead of 1 shot @ $20. I like my chances better that way, plus It will be hard for me to be totally out of it by Friday afternoon :) The Masters is the tourney I book off work to watch and usually try to catch every single minute, to me it's like 4 days of Christmas :) Gully
  10. 90%!?!? I think that's asking a lot even from Tiger. Perhaps we're both on the extreme and the difference of our opinions is a 52.5% chance he makes the cut ;) I'll bet you a pimento cheese sandwich on it! :)
  11. I think Tiger will miss the cut, probably not by much. I'd say no way, no chance of him contending, thus I'd rather him miss the cut. Simply for the reason that on Saturday and Sunday I'd prefer to see all of the leaders and contenders shots than the practice swings of a guy who is 10+ shots back of the lead. I guess I'd give Tiger a 15% ish chance to make it to the weekend. Gully
  12. Good Day All, It always seems to come up during the Masters, the obvious discussion of how there has not been a rookie Masters winner since Fuzzy in 1979(?) although a few have recently come close. This got me to wondering how this compares with other events and courses for winners and the success rate they've had in their first trip to that particular venue or course specifically. It is a huge deal at each course to have local knowledge, sight lines, trouble areas, knowledge of green break nuances, etc , etc. It could most definately be argued that nowhere is the local course knowledge more important than at Augusta but a win at any course the first time being there is a huge accomplishment for the any golfer (and caddie!) It would be interesting to see the success rates and how long it has been at some of the various other courses since a first time entrant has won there. I'm going to do some digging and see what I can find! Gully
  13. Well that was fun to watch! Good job by DJ, he's not my favorite golfer but damn did he EVER deserve to win today! I think he was the only player in the top 10 to shoot in the 60's today? He's had some tough pressure situations in the past and I honestly thought he was going to rinse his tee shot on 18. Instead maybe the drive of the week! Great stuff today
  14. I think those are the types of courses Eldrick prefers ;) BTW, great work on the stats ay33660!
  15. Good Day all, Happy to be signed up to the forums, I've been lurking and reading here for a couple months. For a guy who can never get enough golf news, discussions, friendly banter ;) I LOVE it! I'm from Western Canada where golf season usually lasts from Mid April to Mid October. I'm an accountant by trade but did work in a golf pro shop for 5 years when I was younger and sure did love practicing and playing everyday! I just have to give a shout out for my fellow Canadian and Calgary Flames fan Graham Delaet - he will win one or more this year! Also to my other favorite golfer, Nick Watney (just wished he hadn't switched over to the evil empire - Nike) Looking forward to chatting with you all - or y'all dependng from where you're from ;) Cheers, Todd
