  2. Incidentally, if you like a cheap laugh- loop the DTL video from about 1.5 seconds to 3 seconds or so... I sound like a robot from the not too distant future sent to destroy the world of golf!!
  3. Great feedback, thanks! Correct on both counts, I'm very much open to all thoughts and suggestions. I'll post a couple of vids with a higher frame rate/slo-mo when I get a chance, the 240 fps setting on my phone didn't respond well to the low light. #1- Agreed; my head moves a lot in that shot, probably more than I think it is while I'm swinging. Re #3 - I did upload the videos to the V1 golf app last night and you're absolutely spot on, it would appear that my hands are behind the ball at impact. This would suggest why I'm also hitting iron shot too high and short at times? I think #2 might be the priority here- I'd be interested what you all think in this regard. The other thing that I suppose I should mention is that I intentionally posted (with the DTL in particular) shots with poor contact. I'll try to put one or two up too where I felt I hit the ball well. Thanks again @RandallT, I'd been procrastinating on posting a swing for ages- I feel like progess is imminent now!
  4. Beef or Shane Lowry for me- being on tour with those guys would be a blast.
  5. I'm going to live up to the stereotype here, but there's nothing better than a properly pulled, properly rested pint of Guinness. @stealthhwk I agree with you on the Blue Moon, and I'm also partial to Doom Bar- a nice crisp cornish ale. Delish. Roll on Friday night!
  6. Hi guys, hit the range for the first time since Christmas this evening... Shank fest 2017! Decided it was time to put a vid up, so here goes. As an addition, I should say that after taking the videos I kind of sorted out the shanks by rotating my r hand grip a smidge further towards the top of the club. You'll also notice some over-turning of my head on back swing and a bit too much backwards lateral movement. Anyhoo, I'd be keen to hear your thoughts, thanks guys. I've been Playing Golf for: 22 months My current handicap index or average score is: 102-105 My typical ball flight is: push/fade The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: top, shank, slice Videos:
  7. I work for the Irish state health service. I run the children's (0-16) neurodevelopmental screening and disabilty assessment service in counties Kildare and Wicklow.
  8. Damn you sir, for putting things into perspective! I think my favourite round of golf was last autumn on a misty Irish morning, squirrels running about, doing a bit of male bonding with my father in law. But then again I also got my first ever birdie on a par 4 on that round.. hard to say which was the better!
  9. It would help enormously- you're absolutely right. My trouble is that when I hit the 16th hole or so, I'm SUPER-conscious of the score and it's a big distraction. Maybe when I break 100 I'll relax a bit, but in the meantime I'm trying to work on focusing on the shot at hand with pre-shot routine etc. The mental part of the game is a whole other skill set.
  10. Definitely important. As someone who's shooting rounds of 101-105, I can't help visualising that elusive 99, 98 etc. But the other numbers are important to me too- I want to get GIRs, I want putt under 2 per hole, improve my % fairways hit. Those are the numbers I'll try to take encouragement from if I shoot a poor score on any given day. It also helps for me to know that nobody cares about my score but me...
  11. It's true... I've even been known to sneak into exclusive golf courses before dawn to teach illiterate immigrant groundstaff how to read
  12. I'm going to dive in here in defence of Pablo's original point- I think that there's a courtesy/respect issue there. I've certainly seen (on TV) instances where a Pro drops the club to the floor and walks off when they're practically standing beside their caddy- and it has struck me as quite rude and disrespectful at times. I can understand when there's a fair few yards between them and the player drops the club in the caddy's path- they want to focus on the next shot etc. But sometimes, only occasionally- there's a fine line between asking what's expected of a caddy and being ignorant.
  13. I've had my problems with shanking on and off over the past year or so- more so when I've had a period away from the game. The only two approaches I've ever found to be effectual have been to 1) shorten my backswing, 2) As a swing thought: try to hit the ball from the toe.
