  1. Got my first round of the year in yesterday (Fri) and carded a 77, which is considerably better than I've been scoring the last 2 months!
  2. Got in my first round of the year and I carded 3 tweeters... Par 4 #6, par 4 #9, and par 5 #11.
  3. As I had suspected at the beginning of last year's quest, I was unable to birdie #2 and #15 long par 4 holes at my club (both beyond my distance to reach in 2 from my normal tees).
  4. Got a birdie that I hadn't previously today. Playing a club Ryder Cup style tournament. 3 9 hole matches today. 3rd match was best ball. Hit a decent drive leaving myself 168 to the pin. 6 iron dead at it, rolls out 15 or so feet past the pin and sunk the putt. That putt put my partner and I 1 up with 1 to play. He birdied the next hole and we got the point.
  5. 2 birdies today and 2 yesterday, but only 1 of them to get recorded as a new birdie for the year. 5 holes remaining to birdie to complete all 18 this year. One is a par 5 and one is a par 3. The other 3 are long par 4s that I have problems reaching in regulation. While I'm sure the par 5 and par 3 will not be a problem, I'm thinking the remaining par 4s might give me issues (unless I move to the next set of tees forward).
  6. Snagged another on #6 yesterday. Probably third one this year on that hole. It's a short par 4, drivable for some of you guys, not me, that typically leaves a SW in to a small sloping green, well protected with traps if you fall short. I hit my wedge about 12 feet past the pin and drained it for the bird.
  7. 💪 It's those 800 yard par 4s that will test your mettle! 😄
  8. A birdie on the par 4 #10 yesterday. Windy and cold with wet, sloppy fairways. Playing into a pretty stiff wind, hit my driver and then had to follow it up with a 5 wood (don't recall how far out I was), landed below the pin for a 15 foot putt that had a right to left break of about a cup. The rest of the round, both prior to this birdie and subsequent holes following it, stunk.
  9. 3 birdies today, 2 of which I've already entered for this season...both on par 3s, but the third one was one that I hadn't yet birdied this year AND it's the hardest hole on the course, which I was concerned about being able to birdie it as it's a long par 4...anyway, hit a fair drive, duffed a 3 wood and left myself an 80 yard shot with wind at my back. BAM...Hit and one hopped into the hole. One of my playing partners was standing on the green and hooted and hollered when it holed out.
  10. Head cover off and in basket of cart for the driver. All other woods/hybrids, I keep the cover off until I use the club and then replace it. Since my cart is a private cart, my clubs are always on the cart so the driver head cover only is used when I remove the bag from the cart for whatever reason. My irons never have, and never will, see a cover on them.
  11. Thought I had another birdie to record, but it was one that I'd already marked for this year.....just missed a shortish putt for birdie on a different hole that would have been good for a mark....good putt, just burning. the edge on the high side....oh well. The year's still young.
  12. My internet went out during the rain storm the other day and I had to spend some time with the family.....they seem like nice people.
  13. I don't know if I'm playing better golf this year or not, but somehow my wife has gotten it into her head that I'm playing too much golf lately. In fact, in came to a head last night about 11:30 PM. She suddenly shouted at me "Golf! Golf! Golf! That's all you think about is golf!!!!" And, I have to be honest. It frightened the life out of me! I mean, after all, you don't expect to see someone on the 12th green that time of night!
  14. Sloppy course conditions and even sloppier play today, but I did manage to snake in another hole birdied for the year for my 5th one. On the #9 par 4, I pulled my drive into the left fairway sand bunker, leaving myself 186 yards to the elevated green and pin. With very little lip to worry about, I hit a clean 5 wood from the fairly packed sand in the trap and it sailed true to the line and came to rest pin high, 6 feet to the left. Taking aim at the left center of the hole, I hit the ball with enough speed to remove any break and walked away with the bird.
