That seemed too obvious. PING is a well-known brand while TourEdge is not. From what I've been able to pick up searching around, TourEdge seems to be one of those lower-cost beginner sets. The G2's original MSP was close to $900; the HP5, about $300. My initial impression was G2. But I've learned in other areas that brand recognition and higher price, which seem to go together, don't necessarily mean best, or best for me as a beginner. That's the reason for looking for some advice.

I guess the title says it all. I'm a brand new golfer and just joined the forum today. I have been offered two sets of older used irons from friends. The G2s and HP5s are in the same good condition. I've played with both and, well, I'm so new you could probably put anything in my hand and it would feel as bad Given a choice between the two and all other things being equal, which would you go with and why? Thanks.
