  1. congrats man- please stick with it! smoking will shorten your life and make the quality of your life a LOT worse when your older keep up the good work!
  2. haha thanks- he was off the green and could care less about the pin lol. he is a great golfer but considers himself a terrible putter- lol so lucky him
  3. my dad was playing near SLO and a random local video station was recording him. lucky him he made the best putt of his life http://www.kcoy.com/global/video/fla...o&rnd;=75378271 skip to 30 seconds- my dad is the guy in the blue sweater LOLROFLMAOBBQSAUCEONE111oneone111
  4. i can post a screenshot but it says i have no email subscription to threads now, how i set it after receiving a email every time someone replies to a thread ive posted in. but still i get tons of email every day. someone make it stop!
  5. i would recommend a 5 or even 7 wood- if your a high handicap you will find yourself pulling it on most short par 4's. a lot of 3 woods can be pretty hard to hit
  6. i say stop keeping score- permanently. i mean when you go out on the course, never write down the scores you get or even play a honest game. get rid of your handicap. if you don't have the time to play to get better, just play to have fun, and enjoy the good shots you have throughout a round. Once you get more time, and can start improving your game, keep score again... if you have a bad shot drop another ball (pace permiting) and play the second one. I bet you felt really bad after you found out the damage you did- seems like you overreacted but didn't do anything way over the line, but was overly punished for it
  7. shot a 39 with 0 fairways :D looks like a particular part of my game could use some work LOL
  8. if you can see a scotty cameron on the putter, its a keeper. *waits for teh flame* :D the one that feels best in your hands, easiest to swing, visually appealing..
  9. haha my high schools team is awful now
  10. Im new here and i gotta say- seems like a great community. when you disagree you say so politely and say why. I think golf is a lot mental and so advice is going to vary person to person. i tend to ramble and sometimes not type something exactly how i feel- almost like i think in a different language. So what i was getting at is i used to hit a bucket of balls every day- sure i hit consistent nice shots, but for ME being in practice doesn't translate into good scores on the course. all mental. for ME its best to go out and just play. Where i agree with you is in wedge play, chipping, and putting practice. This always helps to answer your question- yes im on the team. we lost 5 varsity last year so im the #3/4 player on the team... kind of pathetic if its not a hassle try to find out what the jv/varsity guys at your future hs are shooting, (consistently.. not that lucky 36, et cetera), and im sure you will find you should be safe :)
  11. junior in high school. however for a "living" i do a bit of manufacturing for computer/refrigeration parts, soon to have a cnc milling machine in my garage :)
  12. as a high school golfer myself: forget practicing. as long as there isn't one horrible thing in your game which practice would improve, go out and play the teams home course 3-4 days a week afterschool. Play the courses that you often play away as much as you can. Confidence is the most important thing on a course. Get to know the courses you will be playing. When you play, play by very strict rules. practice how you will have to play in matches. Get a copy of a rulebook and read through it before you go to sleep if you can. when you keep score, keep track on every hole things like fairway, green in regulation, amount of putts, and penalties(water, ob, et cetera). keep all your scorecards so you know where you need to improve. you can practice on these things when you have time- or if a area is really bad in particular take a day off playing to practice. Keep it fun and when you are playing in a match, as tiger says the only competition is yourself and the golf course. everybody, including me, freshman year forgets this and plays against the opponents, getting in my head. I think its best to juts be relaxed, focused, and try to go as low as you can without playing makeup golf (o noes he got a par i bogied, o crap i doubled i need to par the next 2 holes... at least his ruins MY game. we are all different) sorry for the long post but i hope this is helpful
  13. ive seen some great advice in this thread personally when i hit an approach shot fat, it usually has to do with me decelerating on my downswing. there is a difference between accelerating and rushing though Hope this is helpful
  14. mind if i ask what website your using? im looking for a new handicap calculator yet don't belong to a club. it takes your best 10 out of your last 20 scores which is why your index seems low. but hell- why complain :) unless you play in handicap tournaments :(
  15. All about your swing- more expensive does not mean better. i personally would rather hit a 3 iron then a hybrid. i have found (again, im not an expert. this is MY $.02) that if you have a very descending swing the hybrids arn't great... if you have a sweeping swing the hybrid is a very nice, lovable club. If you hit your 4 iron, and 3 iron well- id keep it. I hate hybrids but have a hybrid 2 iron that occasionally finds its way into my bag :) cheers!
