  2. Well I hit the X-HOT at the range today. I found them surprisingly easy to work the ball even though the head is so large. 7-iron was roughly +5 yards longer than the X-20 6-iron(same loft), ball height seems to be the same. I will say the X-20's are much quieter giving an almost forged feel. But I enjoyed the slight click off the X-HOT faces tbh. Overall they do as advertised, go FAR. :)
  3. The bases have been covered well here. Good job guys. +1 vote on the 29 compression duo. I find that it flies higher off the driver than other ultra-low compression balls. Should help get that extra carry with driver.
  4. ? I wonder if I could shoot 26 on the par 30 exec. 9 hole?!? Maybe if I eagle'd #9.. 260 yard par 4 but the south wind is in your face. Gotta catch it right to drive it. Edit: I'm going to make this a 2017 goal!
  5. Hmm I play with my old man and his senior buddies at a local muni on Mondays, him and another guy are 71 and break 70 pretty routinely on the par72. That's roughly 2/8 people. Theres also a 92 year old that breaks 80 on a good day. He cusses like a sailor and teases me for being a short hitter but I've learned to pay attention to seniors. Their experience will show you how to save that par :)
  6. Thank you, that's very helpful since I left the golf world for a decade. Seems like there is some useful design technology I could benefit from, because my goal is more ball speed. I do secretly prefer the clean contemporary lines of the X-HOT heads as well. The 85g shaft should be fine and the R-flex might help launch the ball over the stiff graphites(my 150 yard club is a 7 currently). Ill take them to a range this weekend. I just need to think positive thoughts!
  7. Ones from what, 2006? The other 2013. I'm curious as to who would "upgrade" to the X-HOT set. Obviously the lofts are worlds apart. There's not a lot of user testimony on google about the X-HOT irons, the heads visually are larger for sure. X-20's have the 75g graphites(stiff) 3 thru PW X-HOT's have the 85g steel(regular) 5 thru SW opinions? thanks
  8. In my experience a ball like the duo(I call them marshmallows) will pick up carry distance and height with the driver. Especially on mishits. Lower compressions really stand out in short irons to wedges. I easily hit a duo 15+ yards longer than a pro-v1 with a 9-iron, however it seems that marshmallow balls sometimes fly too far at random times causing inconsistency. A 40 yard sand wedge will turn into 60 yards at times. Also, if you give them any kind of a whack with the putter they will over-compress and jump off the face FAST flying by the cup. It's fun hitting 150 yard P-wedges but don't expect to score consistently with ultra-low compression balls (29-40). I use them in the winter time to save my hands.
  9. Hey I'm brand new to the sand trap! I enjoy reading opinions and talking golf so why not?! Hopefully I can navigate the site on mobile alright, doing a computer build at the moment. Also note that unless I'm talking equipment I'm probably being *tongue in cheek* ;) haha. I mean well I promise! Can't wait to check out the forums :D cheers
