  1. Good luck to you in your PGM Program. I'm curious to where you are doing your program at. I ask because I too am doing the program at the University of Central Oklahoma.
  2. Ahh this thread brings back some memories of me and my dad playing golf when I was a child. I can still remember the first round we played together. One time I remember asking him to teach me how to swing the club and he said that he taught himself to swing and that I should do the same. He did give me some advice though "clip the grass going back and clip the grass going through". I enjoyed those times of going to the golf course with my dad. We really don't get to go anymore since he has shoulder and wrist problems. Now that I have a daughter I'm sure I will let her pick the game up if she wants just like my dad did with me. I'm really glad to hear that your son enjoys the game and that you get to enjoy the game with your son. P.S. The last round I have gotten to play with my dad was a high school graduation present. I had to pay for his green fee and cart with the money I had gotten the night before LOL.

    Driving Par 4

I have done it a few times. At Okmulgee number 4 which is about 310 and number 4 which is a tough dogleg right that plays about 300 and the 320 yd 13th. Also done it at Cotton Creek in Glenpool on the 290 yd. 17th. I have done it but just got lucky and hit the ball flush and got tons of roll.
  4. The adopt-a-hole idea seems to be a really great idea. I think I will talk to the manager here and see if we could get one started. I would like to help the course financially, but I'm not at point to where I can other than paying for rounds and ranges balls.
  5. Sounds like a lot small things can be done. I do feel that a lot of the things mentioned would be big help to the course.
  6. I don't sneak out there the play a few holes. All I do is putt and some chips. Like you said this free at here. When you practice these things normally its done on number 9 hole green. I really don't see the difference since there isn't a practice green yet. The course is now in the process of building a practice green. So I think the route would be to go ask the super. here to see what I could do. I didn't mean to sound like I go out there and play a normal round without paying. I like the course and consider it my home course and just would like to help in the upkeep of it.
  7. Hello, I was wandering on what I could do to help out my local golf course? I live right next to the Okmulgee Golf Course, and I go out on the course late in the evenings to putt and chip. The golf course is pretty new and looks rough around the edges. I'm just wanting to volunteer my help, while I'm over there practicing, to help the course out in any way that I can. I think I started this thread in the wrong section, if it is please relocate.

    Even Par

During the lesson really only setup changes were made. The pro told me to setup with my hands higher. Then he said I was getting too far on my right side on the backswing so he made me turn my feet out and feel my knees almost turning to the inside. He also told me to finish my swing as I was basically abbreveating the follow through, he said my arms should be really loose and let the club feel like it is going to hit me in the back. On the 71 round I had 5 birdies and 5 bogeys. The score card I signed and turned in to the tournament director, and don't know what happened to it after that. What should I do about this because I feel that both the 71 and the 83 should be on the handicap. Do tournament scores even count torwards your handicap? Sorry I'm new to the handicap system, this is my first year having one.

The course is only par 71 I was even on the round.

That's exactly how I felt today, I felt that if I didn't shoot 71 or better the round was a waste, but now that I think about the round and what I learned about my game I don't feel that way about today's round anymore.

    Even Par

My handicap is a 9 now I just havent changed it yet. when I joined the site I was guess at it. The slope and rating of the course is 70.2/118. Its not that tough of a course unless you are spraying your driver all over the place. There are alot of tight holes on the course. Well today's round didnt go too well as I got back to my old ways and shot an 83. I just couldnt get anything going, but I learned a lot just by playing with the better guys. The biggest thing I noticed wasn't the distance they were hitting the ball as I could keep up with them there, but their shots were pretty much on target the whole day. Another thing I notcied was when they did miss the green they were getting up and down aleast 65% of the time it is probalbly a better percentage. I enjoyed the expierence though and now its back to work. One question I have and this is off topic but i took a lesson 2 weeks ago and now I struggle with hooking the ball with the driver any ideas on whats going on? My driver is a Nike sasquatch 5900 if that helps. Thanks for all the encouraging comments.

    Even Par

Today I shot my all time low score 71 even par. 1 under 35 on the front and 1 over 36 on the back. Fairways - 8/13 Greens - 11/18 Putts - 31 Par Saves - 3/7 Overall I feel that my short game was getting it done. I had no double bogeys for the round but threatened a couple of times and my putting got it done. Average day driving the ball. This is my lowest total score ever in fact a have on been in the 70's one other which was two weekends ago with a 78. Thats one part of the story, the other part is that round determined where I will be flighted for a tournament tommorrow, which will most likely put me in the A flight ( I usally play in the B flight). I am happy and ready for the challenge of the new flight and look forward to playing with some really good golfers tommorrow.
  13. Played in a scramble today and my team shot a -15 ; 57. We ended up winning the tournament.
  14. I like to play 9 hole courses. When I was in high school our team would get out of school at 3:30 ride in the school mini van, lol, 20 minutes to the local 9 hole course. We would play 9 holes and then head back home. This was perfect timing for the early spring. I now live beside an 18 hole course and enjoy playing on this course as well. Really I just like to play golf, so i don't mind either way 9 of 18 holes.
  15. Hello all newbie here to the forum. Next weekend I will be playing in my first club tournament. It is a 3 day deal with a practice round on Friday and then 2 tournament rounds on Saturday and Sunday. This is my first tournament since I was in high school (which were just one day tournaments). Can anyone give me some advice on what to expect going into this tournament? How can I prepare myself for an all weekend event? Also how will this tournament be different then the high school tournaments that I played in? Thanks for any advice and help.
