  1. Heading to Prattville Alabama to play the three courses at Capitol Hill on the Robert Trent Jones golf Trail. We'll play 18-36-18-36 Thursday thru Sunday. I played these courses in 2011 and can't wait to play them again.
  2. Thanks! I'll give those a try.
  3. I will be leaving for a buddy's trip Friday. There will be 8 of us playing seven rounds. Four mid (10-18) handicappers and four higher (19-36) handicappers. We will play the usual bingo bango bongo, Two-man best ball, probably a four-man best ball, etc. One guy suggested a four-man worst ball. It might be kind of interesting since the high handicappers don't usually have much impact on a best ball. Does anyone have any suggestions for good games for the course?
  4. Yeah, it's amazing how many people can make a double bogey after slicing two OB or dunking three in the pond.
  5. A few years ago, I was playing in an outing that a friend host every year for one of his friends son who had leukemia (sadly the son passed away a couple of years ago). Three of us signed up to play together and they filled our fourth spot. There were prizes (small ones) for low gross, low net, closest to the pin, etc. The three of us were rooting for each other and the stranger. Not him, every one of our shots he was shouting things like "go in the water", "hit the tree", "go in the bunker", and other such things. We put up with it for 5 or 6 holes. Then the unfortunate one who was riding with him told him he could either get out and start walking to the parking lot or he could keep his mouth shut. The guy acted all offended and said he was just joking around, but he did keep quiet after that.
  6. None of the above. I have buddies I can beat, and I have buddies who beat me like a drum. I enjoy playing with both. I think I just want to be as good as I can at whatever I do. It's not just golf either. I was the same way at tennis, darts, softball, and pool. I practiced a lot to get as good as I could. I think it is just more enjoyable to be good at whatever you do. But, with golf Some of my 36+ handicap buddies have as much fun as anyone. They want to be better, but it isn't a passion with them.
  7. Going to San Antonio for 7 rounds in 5 days starting March 4th. Me and two others are driving up from Houston and meeting 6 co-workers from Ohio. The Houston guys have only missed one week due to weather, but the Ohio guys have been snowed in for a couple of months, so they are pretty psyched about it.
  8. San Antonio Texas in March. Going to play 36 a day for 4 days. La Cantera Resort and Palmer courses, Canyon Springs, Olympia Hills, The Bandit, Silverhorn, The Quarry, and Cedar Creek.
  9. I played with a guy a couple of weeks ago who had nothing but wood in his bag. I had never seen a 10 wood before.
  10. Finally going to get in the golf trip with a group of eight work buddies. We were supposed to go to Alabama and and play 36 holes a day for 5 days last March. You can guess what happened. The trip has since been postponed twice now. All of the group has been vaccinated, so we are going to go for it. 36 holes at Oxmoor Valley, Ross Bridge, Capitol Hill, and Silver Lakes.
  11. Only four. United States, Canada, Germany, and Austria. I've got a couple more on my bucket list.

  13. I used to love to walk. But now, on the north side of 60, with 5 knee surgeries behind me, I am now relegated to carts.
  14. Catch a Corpus Christi Hooks game. AA of the Houston Astros. Great Stadium, good food, and affordable. Oso Beach and Palmilla Beach are two options for golf. CC has several courses, none I would consider great.
