  1. Could you explain in details how this handicapping is calculated and operates? I'm with @iacas when he says about the USGA role, what they do impact golf all around the world, it benefits the game.
  2. Great to hear different point of views, especially from people living where the "industry of golf" is far ahead of us. We got almost 9k players for 111 courses ( official numbers ), don't know exactly how many raters, I would say less than 20 (from the last calibration seminar in Rio 2019), maybe near 12 rating courses more often. Thanks again! P.S.: I see you live in Pennsylvania , whenever in Bryn Athyn , try to meet All Aboard Cafe from a brazilian friend, us citizen, some good stuff. 3. I mean, in a country like ours we do not have many raters available, so we propose to make it a technical role where people interested will have the proper training and after that those who rate courses should receive a daily fee for rating day. What are your thoughts about it?
  4. Hello everyone, I'm doing a research as a rater from Brazilian Golf Confederation, as you know Brazilian golf is not as big as some other countries, so I'd like to find more information and how it works around the globe. Trying to find the pros and cons for raters all around, the similarities and what could be improved. I know mostly of the raters are volunteers, but the reality isn't the same all around, we have in Brazil less than 9k players with handicap, in my opinion we should start in Brazil to pay an amount per day of rating for those who can travel around a big dimension country like Brazil to help rating the courses and help to grow the number of raters, the quality of rating and to make more people get involved in Course Rating. Please share your thoughts, what are the pros and cons on your place? Best regards!
  5. Many Thanks for all that shared your toughts from your associations, I believe all the cost shared are annually, could you please confirm? Best!
  6. I agree, thanks. What happened is that it was a 10 teams competition stroke play, each day would count points separately, the players from 1 team went out there and played 5 holes to practice in between rounds. According to rule 5.2b they were allowed, but it seems not fair for me.
  7. what are your thoughts on the rule 5.2b, when you're playing a Club Teams competition, and some players of only one team practice at the course while the hole locations are being determined or have already been set? Is that fair?
  8. Yes, se all the formats in this link https://www.usga.org/content/usga/home-page/handicapping/roh/Default.html#rules/2 1 Acceptability of Scores.htm%3FTocPath%3DII.%20Scores%20for%20Handicap%20Purposes|Rule%202%3A%20Scores%20Acceptable%20for%20Handicap%20Purposes|_____1
  9. I know you can make up local rules, I thought he said that they use a local rules according to the rules of golf. Sorry.
  10. That's a Local Rule, you play the score you shoot. Forget about adding strokes or not, penalties or not. The local rule says you can get a free drop from the roots.
  11. I have this curiosity and the answer is how handicap flights are determined for stroke play, with the WHS changes on handicap calculations (CR - PAR), do you think that the handicap flights should be reviewed? Could you share your thoughts when you're playing different courses for championship in a State Tour or other local tour, that different courses have different course handicap tables. Share your thoughts. Many thanks.
  12. I'm doing a research for our Brazilian Golf Confederation Athletes Committee, Do you guys can tell how much do you pay for official handicap providers? what do they offer(if they offer other features to their members)? All the details will help if it's USA, or other countries. Thanks in advance.
  13. Regarding handicap revisions, scores that count for the formula, I've been fighting with Club Directors because many golfers have handicap with scores older then 1, 2, 3 years.... What can be done? I can't believe that these players handicap can be fair for Club events. Again, could you please mention which actions can be done or rulings? Thanks in advance.
