  1. Video 1: With the video that is face on I would not have as much shaft lean at address. It can cause the club to start back on the inside of the swing. Video 2: I would check you alignment. It is hard to see with video but it looks like your alignment might be off with your shoulders and hips. I know you are using a driver and it is often promote to use a closed stance when using the a longer club, but you want to make sure your club face, shoulders, and hips are square to your target.
  2. Hey Rick_Plum, I just have to say the course you are playing at looks awesome! Here is something that you can work on. Take a look at pic 1 (Impact). The club has fully released before it has even made contact with the ball. Meaning your club has bottomed out before it has reached the ball. You know you have descended into the ball correctly on your iron shots if your divot apears after the ball. Here is a good drill to help you start delivering your irons into the ball at the right angle. Ball position does play a factor so be sure to check your ball position. Hope this gives you something to work on.
  3. Your wrist hinge looks so much better at the top! Great work! Good athletic move down into the golf ball. With the one camera angle I would just say maybe it was your ball position. It seems a little far back in your stance. The club might have caught the ball before the wrists could fully release. Again, I am just going off of the one camera angle. Is it just this one shot that was thin? Or, do you hit thin shots on a regular basis with short irons? When trying to create lag in the club do not intentionally try to keep that lag through impact. The golf club does have to release into the golf ball eventually. Lag is created naturally by the rotation of the shoulders and hips unwinding with your weight shifting towards the target. A key part of this is to maintain light grip pressure through out the golf swing. Choke the club to death and the club can't release properly. Think of it as chopping wood. An ax is going to have the greatest amount of force once the wrists just let the ax naturally swing into the wood. Overall, swing looks like it is coming along. Just remember you will have some bad shots and don't be too critical of each one. Focus on fundamentals and you will start to see you bad shots show up less.
  4. Great Athletic Swing! It is hard to give you some good drills without a face on view of your swing. Here is a good explanation of what causes the slice.
  5. Hey aarogb, Good shoulder turn. It is difficult to determine what else is going on in the swing with just the one camera angle. From this one video you might want to work on getting your wrists hinged more at the top of the swing. More lag equals more speed. Check out this indoor drill to help you learn how to create lag.
  6. I would agree that there is a reverse pivot at the top of the swing. The head is actually sliding back through impact. This can be the cause of your fade/slice. It will be tough to get the draw working for you if you do not have that lateral shift towards the target. I like this example of Adam Scott. He takes a full shoulder turn and loads up onto his right side and gets his weight going towards the target on the downswing. His whole upper and lower body is unwinding with a lateral shift towards the target. It is my opinon that there will be some head movement in the golf swing and the head can not stay entirly still. Don't worry about having a little head shift to the left.
  7. Your club does start going inside on the takeaway but you get the club back on plane on the downswing. You said that you push the ball to the right sometimes. The times you push the ball right is when the club fails to get back on plane on the downswing. When the club is not on plane it is probably approaching the ball from the inside and out to the right of your target. I noticed you do a forward press with your hands to start your swing. A lot of great golfers used some type of action to start their swing from a static position. The thing to be careful with a forward press is too much movement of the hands forward opens the club face and also sets the arms and hands in a position to take the club back to the inside of your target line. I would focus on taking the club back along your target line on the backswing. This will correct the club from going inside. You can take a piece of tape and put it on your hitting mat to represent your target line. Hit balls focusing on taking the club back along the piece of tape using your arms and shoulders. Try to minimize the forward press and see if that starts the club back along the target line.
  8. Your posture looks pretty good at address. As a beginner I would focus on the fundamentals. I would start focusing on these three points: First I would work on your grip. It looks like your grip is what we call a weak grip. As a beginner I would go for a stronger grip. Here is a great video by Paul Azinger on the explanations of the different types of golf grips. Second: Also I would focus on taking the club back along your target line. It looks like the club is drifting to inside. You are then forced to lift the club into position causing your head and spine angle to change. Place a club on the ground pointing towards your intended target. Place your golf ball about a foot in front on the club still on the intended target line. Practice hitting balls with the focus of taking the club back a long that target line. Third thing I would focus on would be shifting your weight on the backswing to your right side but make sure that you shift your weight back to your left on the downswing. Here are some great drills to help you with proper weight shift. Hope this helps and keep on playing!
  9. As @iacas mentioned there can be different reasons why you're casting the club from the top. The releasing of the club from the top can be the result of something else in the swing Upload your swing to YouTube and then embed it in the member swing forum.
  10. I really lack this drill described by Paul Azinger. It is a great drill to work on inside during the winter months.
  11. Hey Hack2Scratch, Great observation regarding your golf posture. I would guess the reason you are topping the ball if you are bent too far forward is because your upper body is instinctively coming up through impact. Your body knows that a fat shot will be the result of bending too far forward and so it over compensates on the downswing by pulling up, resulting in topped shots. Your second observation about shaft lean is well thought out. I try not to over think my shaft lean at address. Doing so will create too much lean towards the target. Too much shaft lean will create an improper swing path on the back swing. Focusing on good posture will naturally create that optimum lean towars the target.
  12. There are so many things that can create an out to in swing path. I would change your setup at address by having your hands closer to your body. Your hands should be about a fist length from your body. I noticed your club goes to the inside on the back swing. If you can get your club going back on plane then your chances of delivering the club on plane on the downswing goes up. Focus on taking the club back with your shoulders and arms as one unit. It is hard to see from the angle of the camera, but on the backswing, are you getting any weight shift to your right leg? A reverse pivot will create an over the top move. This is where your weight remains on the left leg on the back swing. The only move from here is either to fall back and flip your wrist through the ball or in your case an over the top move. Hope this feedback helps. Please feel free to reach out for more in depth drills.
  13. Great video! A flying right elbow prohibits the arms and shoulders from working together. It makes it very difficult to deliver the club on plane on the downswing. Two things will happen on the down swing with a flying elbow: 1.) an over the top move or 2.) an inside to outside path through impact.
