i know a guy who does everything righty except swing a golf club, which he does from the left side (except he putts righty. go figure.) never made sense to me for a second but hey, he beats me regularly im sorry to say. i dont know about your grip and im by no means an expert, but it seems like you would be taking your wrists completely out of the swing with that grip?

So recently I've developed this vicious snap hook, especially off the tee. most frustrating thing ever since my main problem has always been a big slice until i tweaked my grip a little a couple months ago. naturally ive been to the range as much as time allows to try to work the hook out, but the problem is I cant hook the ball when Im on the range even when i try!!! but when i get out to the course there it is first hole QUACK QUACK. it just makes it very hard to work on a swing problem that i know i have when it never shows up on the range!!! someone please confirm what i already know and tell me im a headcase...

you said you havent been to an actual course yet...fair warning: playing golf on a course is MUCH more difficult than just smacking some balls at the range "off and on" for 8 years. Im not trying to discourage you whatsoever, but before you upgrade your clubs you should probably hit the course with your old ones, just to make sure you like the game as much as you think you do. personally, i still use the same set of irons i started with (bought a used set of 845's when i started). they're pretty beat up, and i play without an 8 iron or pitching wedge because a couple of trees got in my way after a couple bad shots in my formative years, but ive been able to do ok with them. the way i look at it, when i do get around to buying a new set my score will become that much better. hopefully.

i always say the only thing i hate about golf is other golfers-not all of them, and certainly not the ones on here, but definitely the ones who play in a foursome and dont let a single thru!!

man i totally feel ya... this weekend i shot a cool 79 saturday (with a triple and a double!!!) and followed it up with a frickin' 94 on sunday. almost drowned myself in the pond on the 18th. cant say something like that hasnt happened before tho... just shows how big an issue consistency is for us weekend duffers.

my most frequent playing partner does the same types of things...slams his clubs, groans, yells, etc. it pisses me off, makes him look like a big crybaby, and definitely throws me off my game sometimes. the worst part about it is he's definitely not good enough to justify that kind of reaction...i mean hes around a 14 capp, not bad, but still at the point where you should be happy when you hit a good shot and not all that surprised when you hit a bad one. its like these guys all expect to play on the tour...its suposed to be fun, why play if it isnt?
