  1. Thanks, guys! That already helps a lot. Since I have a quite neutral ball flight (as said, I'm playing blades right now) I guess the r7 would be the way to go. My main reason to go from my trusted blades to something more forgiving is that, unfortunately, I just don't have so much time to work on my game right now. This is why my pro also suggested to go with graphite shafts instead of steel (which I'm having now). Anyway, guess I'll try to get a demo set and try a couple of shots with the r7. Thanks again! Best, T.
  2. Hello everyone, I'm looking for getting new irons for the upcoming seasons to replace my Mizuno MP33 blades with something more forgiveable (current HCP: 18.3). Both the Taylor Made r7 as well as the r7 draw (both with graphite shafts) look promising to me. Can anyone comment on their relative merits? Does either one fit my current playing capabilities (with some headroom for future improvement)? My iron shots are usually pretty straight, so I don't need the "draw" to correct some inherent fade/slice. Is the r7 worth its higher price (at least in Europe)? Any input would be highly appreciated -- thanks a lot! Best, T.
  3. Great, thanks! Well, it looks like a nice toy but there are no course data for Switzerland, so I probably cannot make full use of it over here. I'll give it some thought anyway and let you know.
  4. Thanks a lot for all the information. Looks quite interesting and I'll give it some thought. Do you know, by any chance, in what format the information is read from the PDA? Is it plain text? In that case I might be able to import the stats into my application...
  5. How useful is it with no GPS map? Unfortunately there are no courses with GPS maps in Switzerland. On their web site it says that you can enter course data yourself even though I guess that's quite limited, right?!
  6. Yes, I'm tracking putts/GIR and tracking of left/right misses is on my list already May I ask what software you are currently using, if any at all? T.
  7. I'm currently developing a web-based golf statistics software that, so far, tracks score, putts, GIR, putting average, ups&downs; (a.k.a. scrambling), and fairway hits (a.k.a. driving accuracy). What else would be useful? Sand saves? Driving distance is virtually impossible to measure accurately for amateurs, right?! BTW, how do they measure it for the pros anyway? Thanks in advance. T.
  8. About 3-4 weeks for the 983K and 10 days for the 904F and 503.H (all mail order). T.
  9. I really like my two-year-old Mizuno MP33 which in the meantime became their "signature set" and will be available for quite some time. The lie angle is indeed quite flat and I got mine with a lie of +2 degrees even though I'm not that tall.
  10. I second what Donald said. Just got a 52 degree gap wedge with a 7 degree bounce (in my case a Mizuno Tour Style) and it has proven very useful. I also carry a 56/11 sand wedge but the higher bounce is more difficult to play from the grass (for me, at least). Lob wegdes are indeed tricky beasts on full swings and I only had wished for one once when I was close to a small water hazard with the green right behind.
  11. Once I also "believed" that your entire bag should be the same brand; heck, even shoes, gloves, everything Nowadays I simply get what works for me. So you might want to consider other manufacturers as well (unless you're devoted to Callaway, of course )
  12. Well, according to my thread on shafts, I just ordered a Titleist 983K. With the new 905 being eventually available you get the 983K at a very good price and it's still a pretty nice driver, IMHO.
  13. Well, I frankly admit that I'm an average golfer only but thanks a lot for the additional information regarding the Speeder (757). I'll take the YS-6 stiff.
