  1. All the time, and you will be surprised at how many times you get paired with a stranger and have a blast!
  2. yeah I know, I stalk the board from time to time, but rarely post. I'll do better
  3. Really have to laugh at some of these post and hope they are meant in jest. Otherwise a lot of sanctimonious aholes here . Your a real golfer if you play as often as your schedule permits, follow the rules as best as you know how, and after the round can't wait to come back out and torture yourself again!
  4. I haven't read all of the responses on this thread so maybe I am just rehashing someone else's post, and I will probably get raked over the coals for what I'm gonna say. But in my opinion a very high percentage of professional athletes (especially "star" athletes) are a-holes. Hear me out before you tar and feather me. In your personal experience how many people (people YOU know) that have hugely inflated egos, that are not a-holes. Be honest. We are all jerks from time to time- but the big ego guy- more so than most. There is no denying that athletes of their caliber think very highly of themselves, they have to or they would not have the confidence required to compete at that level. I am sure they have a cutthroat attitude while on the course or field. I am sure it can be difficult to toggle that "switch" off once the game is over. I think it would be difficult to be around most of these guys on a regular basis because most are so full of themselves. I'm not condemning any of these guys, its just human nature. I really like Rocco, but in my opinion he should have kept his mouth shut about that whole situation, the only reason I can see he mentioned it was to take a shot at Tiger and fan the flame. Today's sports idol has it much more difficult than those in the past, they are never out of the public eye and the media is only to happy to "expose" them. Many of the sports stars of the past, all sports, enjoyed a more protected private life. The media would actually turn the other way at bad behavior. I'll admit I'm not a Tiger fan, but not a Tiger hater either. The flip side to all of this is the mister nice guy show many put on for the camera's. Take it all with a grain of salt. Now I will step off my Soap Box !
  5. By all means, go play by yourself. I do it frequently. If you play on public courses you will most likely be paired with someone else, and that's great too. But even if you play alone I always enjoy it.
  6. That is very cool of him, kudos' to Garrigus
  7. My kids are 7(daughter), and 5 ( son). They both have clubs and hit around in the back yard, don't yet know if they will take to it. But I hope they do, I can honestly say that one of the main reasons I took golf up was to have a sport I could play with my kids as I age, I'm 49 and I hope I can still play a good game of one on one with my son when he is a teenager, but my bet is golf will be a better option. Time will tell.
  8. After you hit the ball, nothing matters, all the damage is done. However, because the swing is fast, the position of your hands, body, etc. after impact is an indicator of where they were or what they were doing during impact. That is why it matters!
  9. All Professional athletes, no matter the sport, are there to entertain the fans. Yes they want to win. But they are paid to entertain us by playing their chosen sport. Their behavior does matter. I didn't see what Day did to start this thread, but I have never had any problem with the way he behaves.
  10. He lives to win and dominate the field, once he has convinced himself that he cannot dominate the way he did he will retire. He will not stick around to be part of the field.
  11. Don't give up based on this thread. It can be alot of fun and relaxing. Main thing is to not take it to seriously, it's too hard of a game to get down on yourself or playing partners when things are going south. I have always said, that if you don't have a good sense of humour you shouldn't be playing golf.
  12. Not a chance in hades he breaks 30! I doubt he breaks Jack's record, he still clould but I doubt it. I doubt he plays another 10 years, and will never play champions tour. I am not a Tiger hater, nor am I a big fan, but I think his best golf is behind him.
  13. Just bought a new 2010 ogio grom. Haven't had a chance to play yet, think I will like the woode top. To get the customer service you guys talk about, did you register the bag when you bought it, save the receipt, or just tell them you have one and have a problem? I had, and still have a sun mountain C-130, great bag just too big. Felt I needed to apologize to others when they tried to load their bag onto back of cart. Told myself I was going to walk more this year, the grom looks like it will still work great on a cart, fits on my speed cart, and not to heavy to carry. Think it will be a winner. I am a little worried about the zippers, hence my question about customer service.
  14. I'm with you on this, it just rubs me the wrong way.
