  1. I finally did it! Took some slogging on the range and lots of practice rounds this summer but got the job done at Van Cortland Park Golf course this week. Par 70, 6,100 yards from the tips. 1 double, 7 bogeys, 10 pars. Just squeaked out the 79, although I had 8 foot birdie putt on the last that I missed for a 78. Also missed two other close putts for birdie, but was striking it well with 9 GIR today. That's a personal best, and I've definitely found working on my 80-110 yard distances to be really rewarding for scoring lower.
  2. Played Dyker Beach out in Brooklyn and shot a 87. It's a par 71 layout and about 6,500 from the back tees. Out 45, in 42. Apart from three jacking a whopping five times, a decently solid round. Three bad holes (triple, double, double ) sprinkled in made it seem a lot worse than it was haha. I've started to gradually reduce these 'brain fart' holes, and hoping in a few months they only happen once or twice a round at max.
  3. Was out at Van Cortlandt golf course in NYC and was a quality (for me anyway) 42 on the front nine, only to throw away a couple holes with out of bounds shots on the back nine, finished that with a 45. An 87 overall on a par 70. 36 putts which is totally average, and only six greens in regulation. Need to work on not getting mentally tired on the back nine!
  4. Played some painful golf in brutal weather, lots of wind at the par 71 Dyker Beach Golf Course today, it's 6,500 yards from the tips but felt like way more. All this to say I committed way too many errors on my way to a 50/50 - 100 total. A few good shots sprinkled in but just too many shots out of the rough today. Couldn't flight my ball in the wind. Need to practice a heck of a lot more hah.
  5. Shot a 90, 45 on the front and 45 on the front. Managed four pars, ten bogeys, and then like a moron I managed to triple bogey two holes, and double bogey another two holes. Both triple bogeys came from hitting it out of bounds on a par 5 and par 3 respectively. If I can limit my blowup holes and stop three-jacking it five times a round as per usual, maybe we have some semblance of a game lol.
  6. Played a new course for me, Forest Park in Queens today. And boy does it bill out to it’s name, it’s the tightest course I’ve ever seen. Lots of out of bounds left and right. And you can bet I obliged - whacking a few out in the woods sadly. After a scrappy round of good putting but everything else going all over the place, finished with a 93. Par 70 course. A stellar front nine (at least for me) carding a birdie and two pars, and everything else a bogey. Hence a +5 heading to back nine. Then everything started going haywire, smacked one out of bounds on the par 4 10th, ended up quadruple bogeying that, and triple bogeyed three holes after with a lot of tree trouble. Tis’ a cruel game. Need lots of work to straighten out my driver. Those of you in Queens that saw golf balls appearing in the woods...that was me. I apologize to all the maples and oaks in the forest, I mean you no harm. Lol.
  7. I've been watching Jordan play now for 5 years. And while his driving has never been his strong point, it is his iron play that has really taken a back seat. He used to be top 10 on the tour in iron play, and constantly attack inside the 160 yard range. Now he's 147th on tour on SG Approach. Strong putting has always been his calling card (even with the short misses last year), but with poor length off the tee compared to the big boys right now, the other parts of game must be firing on all cylinders to compete week in week out. He needs a break to figure out how he wants to play. He's not tactically smart right now. He either needs to embrace playing like Kuchar, hit a bunch of fairways at 285 yards and rely on irons, or whack it a crooked 320 like Phil and play from the trees. He doesn't have the swing speed or strength or natural ability to constantly hit the fairway at 310 yards like DJ Koepka etc.
