  1. Haha, knew someone is gonna catch on it. 😄 We are lucky the tape ended there.
  2. Got notification of this thread, which reminded me of something crazy that happened couple weeks ago. We went to play nearby 18 hole course with a friend and after the round decided to re-throw first hole with 2 discs. I asked him to film one of my throws so I could watch it afterwards and cry myself to sleep while watching all the problems with my sequence. First hole is 90 meters over water and quite guarded of right hand hyzer with trees, still attack it with hyzer over the trees pretty much always and try to stick it close. Well the disc ended up going straight in and it barely got into video with me sounding probably the same as on saturday night in bedroom. That wasn't the crazy part. I took another fairway driver with same line right after the first and it went in aswell! We didn't even think about filming it because that shouldn't happen, ever. That's something I'll probably remember the rest of my life and I could bet a lot of money it's not gonna happen to me again.
  3. 5200 rpm spin if I saw correctly, sounded really soft. 😮 Would be nice to see the bloopers where it goes to clouds. 😄
  4. Work has taken all my time basically, managed to get out early today and hit some balls. Filming was bit tricky since had to balance the phone ontop of bag. Hoping to play a round this weekend, if it doesn't pour water.
  5. Was meant to talk about this in post #40, but was bit in hurry. The feeling I had on those last swings with wrists were that there was no active action. This is what it looks like when I drill it: Newtons third law: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. In my mind by simply keeping the right hand ontop of the shaft like @iacas told in day 1 covid drill, following things should happen: - Wrists become the last lever to load, because there is no left wrist flexion/right wrist extension in early backswing - Arms get a head start to club on downswing, club still travels back when hands are coming down - The change of direction with club becomes a looping action, more efficient way to change directions than fully de-accelerating. Club becomes more like a whip. - Wrist become the last lever to unload, because of newtons third law - This way I can actually pull the club up and down like Bryson tells here (If I extend the right wrist early, I have to push the club up, or that's what I feel): My question is, can you make this work, is anyone playing like this (Bryson?)? I suspect so since @iacas said this in day 1 drill video: "Alot of the wrist action happens pretty early in the backswing, for a lot of people..." What is the downsides? I remember someone saying partial shots can be harder to execute.
  6. I'm looking in awe at your top of backswing hand position. Don't follow much tour swings, but reminds me of Bubba Watson. What kind of club head speeds are you producing?
  7. One partial, one full swing, repeated ~20 times. Full swing got shortened, I didn't try to shorten it. Maybe flattest my shaft has been in downswing since starting this thread.
  8. Recap of 2020 club championship held last weekend Week before the event I thought I’ll skip it, because I’ve been hitting terrible hooks and haven’t entered a competition in 6 years. After all, decided to join and adjust my swing/mentality so I can keep the ball in play and hopefully hit it solid. The changes I made: Switched the ball position forward (to inside of my front heel with all clubs), so it’s basically at my dynamic center Ditched every single swing thought and just went with what’s natural for me atm At the tee focused only at my target and the line/height I want to send my ball to. Found out using intermediate point infront of the ball isn’t for me, I play better when I pick my target straight from the distance. The tournament was 3 rounds on 2 courses from white (back) tees with 155 people entering. After 2 rounds there was a cut made with best ~55 entering the third day, which was played on mixed course with both courses back 9’s. First day I shot 88, it looks bad when I watch the score, but the thing is, I was quite happy with the way I hit the ball (10 GIR). What comes to putting, I had 42 putts, which is bad, especially because those didn’t come from me leaving myself stupidly long ones. I just couldn’t judge the speed or breaks at all, it was quite devastating being 15 feet from the hole and feeling like I need luck to make it in with two putts. Sure, the pin positions were maybe slightly harder than usual and greens faster, but nothing that justifies it. Also didn’t feel any nerves making me putt bad (I know how it feels being nervous), I just had no touch to make anything. Truth is I probably need to take a lesson on putting and start to practice it the right way, or well to be honest, start practicing it all together. Second day we played the tougher of the two courses and I shot 82 (13 GIR). I thought putting couldn’t get worse, but I felt it did, although this round I had “only” 39 putts. Best being 4 putts from 12 feet on hole 3, followed by 3 putts from even closer on the next hole. At that point I was so low, I actually wanted to miss the green on hole 6 so I don’t have to putt, luckily did miss it and survived with 2 putts after the chip. Ball striking was better than on first round and had basically only one terrible shot, a pure shank on the first tee, which might have been little nerves/rushed shot. On back nine I decided to pull out my 3 wood since driver wasn’t feeling too solid. It turned out Henrik Stenson was hitting it for me, it was going way further than my driver and felt like I couldn’t miss a fairway with it. I have never understood how handicap system works and don’t actually care enough to look it up. These were first cards I turned in this year, since I don’t turn anything in outside of competitions, never have. For some reason my HCP went down by 1,9 from 5,4 to 3,5, lowest it has ever been. Thought it would raise with those scores, but guess I scored on the right holes or something? Hoping to get more competitions in before winter, since I really enjoy playing those, pretty much always get more out of myself when competing. Biggest difference comes especially when the round is going badly downhill like on first day, don’t really remember ever “giving up” like on some practice rounds. Good goal for next year could be making the cut. ~30 balls today to see what it looks like, focus on wrists, but not forcing it. Tempo was back to normal fast it seems although I felt “slow and rhythmic”. Also had this one drop in mailbox today after work, can’t wait to dive into it!
  9. I personally tend to switch to some other sport when I'm not having fun with something anymore, that's the most important thing imo when we are talking about hobbies. Have actually applied this to my work life aswell, not quite as radically tho, I feel no work can be fun at all times. 🙂 Have you ever tried disc golf? If not, I highly recommend giving it a try. If you are from USA, there's crazy amount of disc golf courses, you can find them with app called Udisc. It's really addicting sport seeing the disc glide through air and learning curve is very steep at the beginning. Best part is that it's basically free, all you need is couple discs, even one putter is enough at the beginning tbh. I feel it also supports golf in a way, atleast I've gotten used to being in woods and now when I end up there at the golf course, all I see is gabs that I can hit the ball throught. 😄 Keep hitting golf balls every now and then when you feel like it. When/if you play, don't give a crap about score for a while, don't even mark them. Just enjoy the good shots and try to build them up, there's more to golf than just score.
  10. My first irons were some wilson cavity backs with some offset. I felt the difference in carry distance between a flushed shot and slightly bad one was huge. I also started to dislike how they looked at address and I ended up getting myself Mizuno MP-64's, which were quite of shot in the dark. They are some kind of semi-blade clubs with some forgiveness (I'm not much of a equipment guy). However after starting to play with these, I noticed my carry distances got much more tighter between the good and slightly bad contacts, which surely helps scoring better. If I were to buy new clubs now, I'd go get fit for them with some pro telling what's the best for me. I'd still probably give alot value to the looks tho.
  11. Imagine you being 15, really good at golf, ambitious and practising hard day after day. You have club championship marked in calender and are dreaming of winning it. Then they announce you have to wait 3 more years to give it a shot, at that moment, how would you feel about the decision and the whole sport? Besides that, to get better at something, you should always try to play with/against people who are better than you, it really speeds up the progress.
  12. Goals today: - Day 1 wrist action in backswing (Right wrist dorsal flexing and pulling the left wrist in abduction), steep hands with left wrist palmar flexing in downswing. ➡️ Steeper hand path in dowswing, wrists still meh - Make it as effortless as possible, keep the tempo same throughout whole session. This is your new tempo, keep it no matter what contact you make. ➡️ Did okay, bad shots didn't send me into rushing the rest of the session. Was shocked that one polet gave me 100 balls, took 3 hours to hit them. 😄
  13. More drilling till wrists were sore + bucket of balls. Tried what it feels like starting from cupped position at the top, the palmar flexion of left wrist happens really early, not sure should I try to maintain it later into downswing.
  14. Did combined day 1 takeaway drills and day 4 wrist condition till my forearms hurt, I will need to start working them now that I'm not working as pipe-fitter anymore. 😄 Not sure is this the right way, felt more like being under the shaft I'd say. The top position looks better than earlier with this drill I think, still slightly toe down but my arm position is higher this time, so if I dropped them slightly I'd be closer to Erik's? Transferring this to hitting balls is gonna be whole another story tho. Clubface works very much outside/infront of me to top. Bubba Watson is someone who seems to work it that way? Matthew Wolf more extreme so at least it's possible. This is actually more like the way I used to hit bandy ball from right side.
