  1. Had a couple great ones recently. First: 135 yd par 3. Pin in front so maybe 130. Slightly raised green Sand Wedge. Hit it right at the flag. The ball hit the green beyond the hole and spun back, hit the opposite lip of the hole going pretty fast, bounced over and came to rest maybe 12 ft below the hole. LOTS of spin. Second: Just a couple days ago. 225 yd par 3. 5 Iron. Pin was tucked WAY back in the left corner. Couldnt really see the hole due to some bushes. Hit a high draw and to about 2ft. No ball mark which was wierd. Very dry day, pretty stiff greens. Hit the pin on a punch 7 iron from about 150 recently also. Trees kept me from a full shot.
  2. Break par on 9. Then on 18. (Even and 75 is my best so far. I'll get it.) Learn to hit a wood from the tee again. Havent had to for a while but it's been keeping me from really shooting low scores. (Bought a Nike 3-wood. It can be a consitant 300yd club) Swing easier (can't get it through my head) Always hit balls before playing. Hitting 50 balls before I play is the difference between an 84 and a 74.
  3. The video is Tiger. His lead arm is very straight until well after contact with the ball. I want that. I just need to work on using my body more to maek the swing and not my arms as much. I've been doing lots of core exercises lately and my game has straighted out. Now I feel like I just need to fine tune it and I'll be able to drop below par fairly often. Tiger's swing is so amazing. Just perfect. I will start with more stretching at home and before practicing/playing.
  4. I have a decent swing and can make my way around the course just fine. Scratch player on most days. I want to increase my flexibily though. I was told recently that I bend my left arm a bit on the back swing. I'm fine with how I play but I want to have a good swing also. I dont think I need to change my swing. Just increase my ability to turn. Any exercises anyone can recommend? I want this something like this. Skip to about 0:25. I'm ok with the rest of my swing.
  5. I was on the golf team in high school. One afternoon we were playing on one of our prictice courses. We got to a ~360yd downhill par 4. You could either play it properlly and hit maybe a 4 iron off the tee or cut the corner and go for the green(~330yds). The green is blocked a bit by some trees. Got the all clear from the group, teed it up and gave it a go with the driver. As soon as I hit the ball, a guy from the group ahead came out from behind the tree. Uh-oh. The ball tracked for him like it was in control. Hit him on the right hand and he dropped....... We apologized when they drove past on their way back to the club house. They took him to Urgent Care. He had some bruising but that was it. PHEW!
  6. Only got 9 in on Saturday. Family in town. Worst 9 holes I've played in....sheesh. A long time. I was pround of 2 shots all day(had a couple decent tee shots but those are easy). One was a 7 iron from about 190 to 8-10 ft. ~430 yd par 4. Took a 3 iron off the tee. Other was a 7 iron i had to punch up to the green due to a branch hanging over the fairway. Hit the pin and stopped about a foot from the hole. Bogeyed 2 of last 3 for a 39. Pretty frustrating. Who skulls a sand wedge(#9 - 140yd par 3: wind behind)? Playing poorly just makes me want to get out there again even more. I feel like a could break par on a consistant basis if I just got out there and practiced more. I need to get my 3 wood figured out. Havent hit a wood in years. It's a 300 yd club if I can just straighten it out. I'll get it.
  7. Damn. Very nice. I need a to get a few rounds under par. I don't care what anyone says, 30 would be pretty decent. Work on those putts.
  8. 2 double bogeys at Vistoso on the northside of Tucson and finished with a 78. Lipped out 3 birdie putts in the first 4 holes and probably 6 all day. Such crap. Could have been even so easily. Played well. I've played this course a couple times. Sunday played Ventana Canyon's Mountain Course. Never played the mountain course there before. Unbelievably beautiful and a really fun course. 38 on the front with 1 double, a bogey and a birdie. Fell apart on the back. Very hot and I was tired from partying the night before. In Tucson for a bachelor party. 42. 80 wasnt THAT bad but still not good at all. I need to get my 3 wood working. That club is guaranteed 300yds off the tee but I havent hit a wood in 3 years so I need practice.
  9. Played a quick 9 with my brother yesterday after work. Easy enough track. Couple shakey shots but made 4 putts outside ~12ft and kept myself even. I'm making shots now that I've never been able to make. IE. 100-120 is between clubs for me. Choked down on a sand wedge last night from right at 120 and stuck it. Good thing to because I had to punch out to get there and make the putt for par. 2nd hole is a 140yd par 3. Pin was up so maybe 130. Hit a sand wedge right at it and saw the ball hit the hole and take a hop. Pretty cool. Made the 10ft putt back up the hill. First rnd even this year after being away from golf for over 2 yrs. Been close a few times(a few 37's)
  10. Literally shot the best/worst 40 of my life. Triple bogeyed the 9th(~400yd par4). The hole has a ridiculous set-up(usually have to hit an 8-iron off the tee becuase of how the fairway is divided) and there was a 30+ mph cross wind into thick bushes. First 9 holes though I felt like I could go at the hole each time. Havent had that since college. Great feeling. Putting was below avg. I had 3-4 shortish birdie putts that just wouldnt fall. The round could easily have been even or +1. Best round this year is a 77. Need to knock 4 off that to feel good. Best 9 is 37. Meh. Still getting used to this new 3-wood('09 Nike). But if I can figure it out it's a 300+yd club all day.
  11. It seems to me that players like Jack, Arnold and others, Phil, Jim, Els, etc are men who try to play golf as best they can. Tiger Woods is a golfer who is trying as hard as he can to be a normal man. His life of ONLY golf has left him unable to really be a serious human being. His father built him to be a great golfer. He is a mediocre person, however. He's like an expensive refrigerator. Does the job very well but not much else. Like Michael Jordan. Amazing athlete. Crappy person. When you're so focused on one thing like that, it's difficult to learn other important things about life. My $.02...

    Driving Distance

How many ways are there to measure? I'll walk one off Sunday and see what I come up with. I actually asked a buddy what he thinks the distance on my 2-iron was and he thought it was deeper than even I did. He's about a 4-5 HC also. Really, I could care less how car the ball goes off the tee. If I can get it close to the hole on the approach, Im good.

    Driving Distance

I don't really measure. I just hit the ball off the tee and subtract. Couple weeks ago I went 2-iron, 5-iron into a 500yd hole. I dont think there was any wind. Later in the round I hit the 2 on a 400yd hole and had under 100 left in. I did cut the corner a little. Obviously I dont hit it as far from the fairway. But I do tee it up sometimes and that give me another 15yds or so. It's a iron off the tee so I can really rip it. Accuracy really isnt a problem when youre not trying to hit a flag. I don't know.

    Driving Distance

I have a 2-iron I can hit to about 270-280. I can hit my spot with that and get to many par 5's. Im not as accurate with the driver. Back when I was consistantly hitting my driver I could get to about 185 on my home course #2 (535yd Par 5) pretty regularly. I like hitting long irons though. 185 is a good 7 iron for me. Maybe a smooth 6. I'd rather have a 5 or 4 iron in.
  15. 77...is most recent round. 2 weekends ago. Couldn't get a par on the back to save my life. 2 birdies, 1 double, an eagle and and 4 bogies. 1 par....sheesh. Could have been 2-3 under. Oh well. Will try to even it out this weekend.
