Quality ball...Not for me

Posted

Pros: Durabiltiy, distance

Cons: Short game feel

The Volvik White Color is not actually white, rather is a hybrid between white and a blue pearl which is supposed to help increase visibility.  In your hand, the addition of the blue color is very obvious and definitely explains the “white color” name, however in play this ball looked as white as any other ball.  My eye did not readily pick up on the added effect. Overall, I found this ball to be easy to track and find in the rough, but did not feel the hybrid color increased visibility over a traditional white ball.   Playability:   The S3 performed well on full swing shots.  I did not have any loss of distance or excessive side spin.  The ball provided...

Tour level quality with a twist

Posted

Pros: Feel, durability, high visual contrast

Cons: Price

Having not played an alternate color ball in the past, I was pleasantly surprised while trying the Vista IS Orange.   Visual:   The orange color was bright, had good contrast with the grass, and was easy to find in the rough.  I attribute some of the ease to higher mental awareness, since I knew I was not looking for a traditional white ball.  Overall, I can only give the orange color positive remarks.     Where the bright orange color provided a distinct advantage over a traditional white ball, was playing on a cloudy day.  We all know how quickly a white ball blends into a dull gray sky, but the Vista Orange did not have this issue. ...

Pros: Simple, intuitive, feature packed

Cons: price, tougher to use alone

Swing Profile is designed to be an all-in-one solution for the avid golfer to record, review, and compare their golf swing right at your finger tips.  Swing Profile also attempts to do most of the heavy lifting for you in advace by utilizing their 5A’s methodology;   Auto Capture – recognizing and recording swing motion only Auto Trim – keeping only the raw swing motion by trimming away redundant footages Auto Sequence – creating Golf Digest-style swing sequence Auto Line – drawing swing plane Auto Sync – synchronizing two different swings regardless of tempo difference By using the 5A’s, the end user does not have to go through the steps of...

Recommended swing aid

Posted

Pros: Easy to use, immediate feedback

Cons: Length, potential to promote improper motion

The Orange Whip is swing aid which targets proper swing tempo through the use of an extra flexible shaft and weighted “club head”.  The club head is actually a dense rubber ball about the size… you guessed it… the size of an orange.  The orange ball is counter-weighted by a golf ball sized weight at the grip end.  By using an extra flexible shaft and heavy club head, the Orange Whip will quickly let you know if your swing is slightly out of sequence. I have really liked the idea of removing the traditional club head shape because it keeps your mind focused on one task, tempo.  If the club head were shaped more like a traditional club head, I could easily see...

Great concept, tough to replace tried and true

Posted

Pros: reuseable, long lasting, added distance

Cons: clunky height adjustment, abnormal placement

The Tornado Tee touts more distance off the tee by reducing resistance caused by traditional tees. Reduced resistance is achieved by using a flexible mesh like material, which bends as the club head passes through impact. The result is more energy transfer to the ball. An added benefit of this flexibility is also increased durability.   I have used three types of tees during my rounds, a 2 ¾” traditional wood tee or zero friction plastic tee with the driver and 1 ¼” wood tee for irons and fairway woods. The Tornado Tee can replace all of them as the flexible mesh can be used at full height or collapsed down (see pictures).   However, this is a negative for myself....

Great towel

Posted

Pros: Cleans well, dual purpose

Cons: color (white), thin material

I have used this towel for a couple weeks (3 rounds) and have had a great experience.  The towel has great size, cleans dirty clubs well, and the scrub side does a good job getting the grooves clean. For me, the towel seemed to work best when slightly wet/damp.  With a dry towel the scrub side did not work as effectively as expected.   As other reviews have stated, the white color is not a preferable color.  My towel quickly be came a light brown color and I'm unsure it will ever make it back to white as I don't wash my towels on a regular basis.  The only other negative was the thickness of either side of the towel.  When I read about this towel's...
