A surprising ball with some upside

Posted

Pros: Excellent visibility and visual appeal, excellent long game performance

Cons: Not much spin in the short game, trades some durability for color

I received this ball for review, hoping to try out a new brand (for me) of premium balls with the additional bonus of candy colors. The ball is appealing and very bright to the eye, and the course was looking beautiful so the orange really stood out. It isn't a urethane cover so it didn't have the same texture of the White color S3, but it certainly brings the element of color to the table, something I haven't really tried in the past. I'm not much of a traditionalist in terms of my ball, but I tend to play white because it's available.   First tee, I didn't warm up at all and don't feel settled, but hit a 3 wood on a tough fairway that sets up poorly for my draw. I bonked 2 of...

A bright, soft feeling ball

Posted

Pros: Visible, very soft, straight, reasonable length and wind performance

Cons: not enough spin, doesn't seem to launch high and not the best value

I received the Volvik white color S3 and the vista is for a review, since I have been pleasantly surprised by many premium balls in the past. I can definitely say they are appealing in the packaging and in terms of the look and feel of the cover. It has a certain texture that feels like it will grab the clubface and certainly looks very bright in the sun.   I took them out for a round and played reasonably well enough to test the balls. The first thing about this ball is that it feels very soft and flies quite straight, which I noticed on a PW shot on the first hole. I stopped this shot on one bounce, right about where I wanted it. It seemed like I couldn't putt this ball for my...

A Solid Competitor In Its Class

Posted

Pros: Very soft feel, better long game performance than most spin balls, and a big improvement over last year

Cons: Outclassed by the RZN Black overall, I prefer less short game spin and higher trajectory

I wrote a more in depth review of the RZN Black, so I'll be keeping this one a little shorter. http://thesandtrap.com/products/nike-rzn-black/reviews/4857   A little about me: I am a high swing speed player with a high ball flight, I tend to go for the lower spinning tour ball profile than most manufacturers put out, such as the ProV1X, B330, and last year's 20XiX and 20XiX tour issue. I have a number of last year's 20XiX and am familiar with that ball, so I will be comparing that ball and the RZN Black to the Rzn Platinum as well as other higher spin tour balls such as the ProV1. I received all four of Nike's new line of balls for free from our sponsor...

A solid improvement on an underrated ball

Posted

Pros: Improved feel, excellent control and wind performance, uncanny ability to find the hole

Cons: Not for everyone so posers should stay away, older balls at a discount are still a better overall value

A little about me: I am a high swing speed player with a high ball flight, I tend to go for the lower spinning tour ball profile than most manufacturers put out, such as the ProV1X, B330, and last year's 20XiX and 20XiX tour issue. I have a number of last year's 20XiX and am familiar with that ball, so I will be comparing that ball to the Rzn black, as well as the Rzn Platinum and other tour balls from last year. I haven't hit the newest B330 so I can't compare it to this ball, but those will likely be the two duking it out for my preferred spot in my bag this year. I received all four of Nike's new line of balls for free from our sponsor Globalgolf.com, and I liked the black the...
