Fun course with 27 holes and a great setting.

Posted

Pros: Unique design with 27 holes, nice conditions and challenging layout.

Cons: Gets a lot of outing wear and tear.

Set is Sussex Wisconsin, in the Kettle Moraine hills and valleys , Ironwood Golf Course offers a challenging design with 27 holes to keep your interest.  Each of the 3 nine hole courses offers something different and unique from the other. The Callow is highlighted with elevation change and the final three holes lined with wooded areas that make this nine very challenging. The Meath gives some interesting options for playing the holes.  It has a very short par four that has a green nearly surrounded by water that is an interesting risk reward hole and it has a par five that has many different ways you can play it off the tee. It is also probably the most...

Amazing swing analysis software.

Posted

Pros: Easy to use and a great tool for instruction

Cons: Mac supported only

I use Analyzr Pro to track my progress with my swing and to make sure I am following what is being taught in my evolvr on-line lessons.  I am not the best with computer software but this program is so easy to use and very versatile.  It offers multiple windows for side by side comparison of different swings.  You can illustrate over the videos showing angles, lines and movement among other things.  You can slow the video down and take it frame by frame if you need as well.  I like how you can pull files in and out easily and change the videos up very quickly.  That will work great for all the instructors out there trying to make multiple...

My favorite golf book of all time!

Posted

Pros: Entertaining quick read.

Cons: Leaves you wanting a little more.

This is a must read for every golf fanatic and golf historian.  I would have given just about anything to take this story in as it happened, however Frost paints a wonderful picture with his words that is the next best thing.  The back story of The Match and the connivery of how it came to be is incredibly fascinating.  Never again will we see such an event between the ranks of professional and amateur golfers.

Look no further than Edel for your next set of wedges!

Posted

Pros: Wedges fit to you!

Cons: Pricey but worth every penny!

I was fit for these wedges at Golf Evolution in Erie, PA and they are amazing.  Bounce is definitely your friend and the fitting process is all about finding the right bounce for you as well as the right shaft set up and lie angle.  We spent time trying every option until we were confident that we had the right bounce and lie angle. We then tested shafts until we found the shaft that gave the most consistent ball flight and versatility in shot making.  Through Edel's on-line ordering system we then entered the specs and customized the lettering and paint fills.  I ended up with 47, 52, and 57 degree wedges in the Nippon N.S. Pro WV 125 shaft....

The Best and Most Accurate Wood I Have Ever Played.

Posted

Pros: Extremely reliable, accurate, easy to align, easy to hit, innovative, versatile and long!

Cons: Hitting out of thick rough is a bit tough and possibly the sound.

I recently purchased the KickX Blast Driveway.  I have been in a bit of a domestic dispute with my three wood and I thought it was the right time to divorce it and give the Driveway a shot.   Let me say that this club is the real deal!  It is so easy to hit, even out of the fairway.   It is the perfect club for reaching long par fives in two and getting off the tee when you need to thread the needle or place a shot.     Club Specs: This club is a 12.5 degree lofted wood.  It is essentially a hybrid between a driver and a three wood.  The head is a 280cc design.  With the 75g shaft and the D4 Swing weight this club feels...

A great bag for a light round!

Posted

Pros: Very light, easy to carry and can easily fit 14 clubs at a great price.

Cons: It is small so not much storage, no stand and no padding.

I just picked up the new Ping Moonlite Sunday Carry bag.  I was first amazed at the size of the box that it came in.  This thing is small and since the bag has no side walls lining the bag as a shell it can easily be folder up and stored away.  I was a little concerned that it would be flimsy and not balance well, but once you get the clubs in it I holds them nicely.     Storage: I initially wondered how my clubs would fit in the bag.  After trying it out you can fit all 14 clubs in the bag.  It is a bit tight getting them in and out as they can bind up a bit in the two club pockets the bag has.  One issue is belongings storage.  If you...

The best ball I have played!

Posted

Pros: It works with every single shot.

Cons: Graphics are a bit too much.

I have been playing the Kick X Tour Z golf ball for a little more than a month now.  I love the way that this ball performs on every shot and in all conditions.  I have not played a ball that feels as soft as this does, with the distance it gets.  I was previously playing the ProV1x and although I like how it reacts off the tee and how it flies it is just feels too hard for me on all shots, especially around the green.     The only ball that gives me the feel of a softer ball but plays the way I want it to is the Kick X Tour Z golf ball.  I can't believe how long this ball is with how soft it feels.  It is the best of both worlds to me.  With...

The perfect marriage between a hybrid and a long iron.

Posted

Pros: Versatility and Playability

Cons: Appearance for some.

As a mid single digit handicap, I have struggled for a long time with finding the right 3 iron for me.  I have tried hybrids in the past and I just can’t hit them with enough accuracy or off of a tee.  I switched to a game improvement(GI) 3 iron this year and although I liked how it played off of the tee box and in the fairway,  I could not seem to get the large head of the club through the thick rough at my home course.   I also wanted to lose my breakfast every time I would look down at all that offset.  It just was not working for me.  After hearing good things about the Callaway X Utility Prototype iron, I decided I would give...
