5 Simple Keys - Renamed 5 Must Not Lose Keys

Posted

Pros: Clear and Consice Instruction is Valuable - Scientifically and Anatomically proven makes it Priceless

Cons: Post Production Value was off - DVD quality is behind the times

I received the 5SK DVD's earlier this week and have watched them in full.  Let me first state that I thought the DVD's were worth every penny.  They are great for a guy like me that wants to catalog instructional information on the golf swing, to help me integrate and execute the techniques found within the swing pattern into my own golf game...Many of you regular TST user know, I've become quite the swing junkie in the last year, seeking out quality instruction from a variety of sources.  And the 5SK DVD's are an excellent source for quick, concise, and to the point golf instruction.   Chuck Evans and Dave Wedzik's instructional approach is easy to...

Rancho San Joaquin - Irvine CA muni

Posted

Pros: Solid practice range with 64 stalls, 4 practice putting greens and several chipping greens and bunkers

Cons: The 18 hole course is not in very good shape

I live just down the street from Rancho San Joaquin, so this is where I practice 99% of the time... And will play twilight rounds here too.  I try to avoid playing too much golf here as the conditions are typically poor, and the pace of play is sloooooow.   The golf course is owned and operated by American Golf.  And the 18 hole course, unfortunately takes a back seat to the practice area.  The range has lights, so it is open until 10:00 PM every day.  And the range is where American Golf makes serious bank as the heavily populated Asian community here in Irvine loves to practice.  They have automated ball dispensing machines which are open until 9:00pm...

Solid test of golf

Posted

Pros: Clean facility, solid layout, great green complexes, nice practice area

Cons: Bring your credit card - it's expensive

Strawberry Farms is a solid course in Irvine, California (Orange County).  It is near the 405 and University/Jeffery exit.     The course is in solid condition for a public course, but the prices are expensive.  The rack rate is $160 for 18 holes and cart on the weekend.  A little too pricey for my liking.  But you can sometimes find discounted rates on their website... I typically only play Strawberry Farms when I can find one of the discounted rates which are typically $90 to $100.  Still a little pricey, but the quality of golf is better than most of the other public courses in the area.

True Tour is a Fantastic Golf Shoe

Posted

Pros: Comfort + Low-profile Design + Easy to Clean + Stealthy = One Happy Customer

Cons: A little pricey ($149), but I picked these up on sale

These are fantastic golf shoes... They easily double down as street shoes as well.  And I'm extremely pleased with the quality and comfort the True Tour's provide my feet.  My dogs are no longer barking after a full day on the course!   The Black/Black is stealthy, and very easy to maintain.  I simply use a damp clean cloth to wipe down each shoe, then dry them off.  They look like new in seconds.  A huge plus for a golfer who plays dozens of rounds a month, and wants to have a clean, fresh look on the course.   Also, the low profile barefoot platform makes reading the slope of greens a breeze.  Practically like walking around in...

Lamkin's R.E.L. 3GEN grips are solid

Posted

Pros: Looks, Feel, Tackiness

Cons: Almost too tacky!? Hard to believe I'm saying that!!!

I'm writing about Lamkin's 2012, R.E.L. 3GEN golf grips.  These are the latest golf grips from Lamkin which feature a synthetic rubber compound, and have a minimalist look and feel.  The timing of receiving these grips was perfect, as I was in the market for replacing the Winn Dri-Tac's that I've used since last Fall 2011.   Specifications that adhere to a Winning Formula   First lets start with the specification of the R.E.L. 3GEN grip.  The standard grip size is .600" round, and 52g in weight.  In comparison to the Winn Dri-Tac's standard 5DT-DG is also a .600" round, but weighs in at 48g.  So the Lamkin's are a tad heavier.   ...

ProtoSports Holster is legit

Posted

Pros: Easy to use, and it securely fits both the iPhone and the alignment stick, and is small enough to fit into your golf bag without an issue.

Cons: You need an alignment stick - sold seperately

I just got my holster in the mail tonight... It is legit.  And I love it already...  Let me explain why I really thought I needed this holster...    First, for the past several months I've been trying to jerry rig my iPing cradle to an alignment stick... To film with my iPhone when I didn't have anyone at the range to video my swing.  And that failed 80% of the time because it was a pain in the ass trying to get the iPing cradle to stay attached to the alignment stick... And then even when it was attached - I had to make sure it was at the very tip of the alignment stick as the alignment stick is too thin for the iPing cradle to stay attached. ...

Z-Align Design Does It For Me

Posted

Pros: Alignment and Feel

Cons: N/A

Kick X: Tour-Z Premium Golf Ball   I received a dozen Kick X: Tour-Z premium golf balls in May.  This was the first time I have played the Tour-Z ball, as over the last couple of years I've only played the TaylorMade Penta tour golf balls, most recently the TP5.     Tour-Z Unboxing   As soon as I took the Tour-Z's out of the sleeve, I immediately noticed the unique marking on the ball.     One of my favorite things about the look of the Tour-Z golf ball was the 'Z-Aline Alignment System' that is found on the golf ball itself.  It is elementary in design, but sets up perfect to my eye, and makes it incredibly easy to line up a putt.  ...

Durable Long Life Golf Tee

Posted

Pros: Perfect for a driver

Cons: Too tall for any other club

In April I purchased the Bugle Tee after hearing positive things about it on XM Raido / PGA Tour Network. I decided to purchase two packs of the Twin pack.  The Twin pack included the following items:   1x 3 1/4" Tee 1x 2 3/4" Tee   I bought two packs because I figured if I lost one - or one happened to break, I would have a replacement tee of the same height. The tee is great to hit with a driver because it has a tee setter built into it - and you get the perfect tee height every single time.  At least a perfect tee height for my driver.   The Bugle Tee is guaranteed to last for life - if it breaks or fails, you send the tee back to...

Best set of irons I've ever owned

Posted

Pros: Beautiful club design - ball soars off the club face

Cons: Sometimes they sound clicky

My setup is with the KBS Tour stiff steel shafts, 4i to PW.  This is one of the sexiest irons on the market right now.  They are stunning...  The titanium insert ensures a solid feel - even on miss hits - and increases the sweet spot.   My misses are on the heel side, near the hosel - and the ball still flies as if it was near the center of the club face.  The ball just soars when compressed with this iron... Effortlessly.  And it's very easy to shape shots left to right and or right to left.   I would highly recommend the MP-59's to anyone on the market looking for a new set of irons.
