A good eveyday premium ball

Posted

Pros: Durable soft feeling ball

Cons: Doesn't float

I got the Bridgestone B330 RX to review. Without access to either a TrackMan or FlightScope I can't really say much about the relative length vis a vis other balls from an empirical standpoint. I do have a Game Golf device but the result have been inconclusive. I am sure most, if not all variation, is due to the vagaries and variations found in the swing of an amateur (i.e. me) whose index can swing from 9.5 to 12.2 and back in any given two month measuring period.  I will say that it is every bit as long as the Titleist ProV1x and Callaway SR.   I took the Bridgestone ball test at their display in Orlando in January to verify that I was in fact using the correct ball in the...

Putting stroke has become more consistent

Pros: Putter feels like it one piece rather than a weight at end of shaft

Cons: slightly more expensive than standard grip

Note:  I was sent 3 three grips for irons and one putter grip.  This review covers both the iron grips and the putter grip.   I put the grips on my gap wedge, 4 iron and 5 iron.  I did so thinking that I did not want to mess up the core part of my set.  After playing two rounds with the clubs I went and had the rest of the set done. I think that fairly well says what I think of the grips.  I will mention that I went online and found a coupon where I could either get my 7 iron done for free or a buy 3 get one free deal.   I went for the latter and for the price of 4 got 6 done.  The price was $13.95 each and so far quite worth the price....

A fairly decent mid-range ball

Posted

Pros: Durable and just as long as ProV1x

Cons: Cover slightly hard, No play number on ball

I was given a sleeve of "The Ball" to try out and comment upon. So far I have used 1 of the balls.. But...I used it for 6 3/4 rounds before trying the "can it float test" (It can not). The ball was just as long as my ProV1x's and performed as I would like a low spin ball to do. I had the feeling the cover was harder than I am used to based on short game shots and putting. While the putts went where I wanted, I did not like the feel. Perhaps this would be different if I used a putter with an insert. As for the short shots, I never got a good feel with the ball although it does not feel all that different than my normal ball. At the right price, I would get these balls and think a...

Outstanding Swing App

Posted

Pros: Easy to use, intuitive, auto swing sequencing of key positions

Cons: would like P6 Position added to sequence

This is a very unique piece of software for use on the range and for teaching.  I found it easy to use and to work with.  The one feature that was particularly nice was that once you had yourself or someone else  set up in frame, the software would diagnose when a swing was in process and capture it.  You do not have start the process and trim away a bunch of useless video on either side of the process.  When you review what has been captured you will see that a sequence of shots has been captured in key positions (address, up-swing, top, down-swing, impact, follow-through, and finish).   I for one would like to have a the position between...

Lag Rag was easy to use and possibly overuse

Posted

Pros: quick to install, stays on club well, creates good drag

Cons: DVD is basically a instructional dvd .. May be good for beginners

The lagrag itself is a good resistance mechanism to help build muscle, get the feel of club lag and may help build speed with driver. I am not sure at what cost this may come. Most folks will need to make sure they do not overdo using the lagrag for they may either sustain overuse injury at first or may get out of their normal swing. The DVD does have some drills to help folks with hooks and slices. As I am not afflicted with those issues, I am not able to address how well the drills work. I do know that I had to make sure I throttled back to my normal tempo as the Lag Rag had me overswing my driver causing me to revert to a horrid slice. Used judiciously, there is a place for the Lag...

KP Golf Tape is easy and quick to use. built to last

Posted

Pros: well built, easy to use, plenty of tape

Cons: Heavy for walkers

The KP Golf Tape (KP Tape) is a basically a tape measure that is 100 feet long that has a clamp that easily clamps onto the flagstick, does not damage the cup, and starts measuring from the edge of the cup.   It is extremely easy to use.  This ease is quickly noticed when you are going to measure a ball which is on the other side of the green from where you are.  All you do is clamp on the flagstick as you walk by and keep on moving.  There is no need to remove the flag as is required by most current mechanical measuring devices.   The KP Tape is easy to keep in a bag or cart but would add a considerable weight if walking.   As for use by a...

Push Cart and Bag All in One... High Marks in all areas

Posted

Pros: Well made, easy to use

Cons: Not easily stored in bag rooms or switched to carts mid-round

Duo Golf Cart by Alphard Golf Cart and Golf Bag combo   http://www.alphardgolf.com/   Note:  It is my understanding that some small changes are still being made to this product and I will note such as I know them.  I do not know that price of the product nor how it will be distributed.   I also took many pictures of the product but had the unfortunate circumstance of losing the camera with many of my photos. I will mostly include the photos from the website and others I solicited from the company.  Their photos are much better quality but do represent what I in fact saw and tested.  Other photos are mine.  Their website is quite...

Lamkin R.E.L. 3GEN Grip Review

Posted

Pros: Simple in looks, great feel, constant control

Cons: none

The first thing I did once I found out that I would be getting these Lamkin Grips to try out was to go to the Lamkin website.  I found that they have a very useful tool for determining grip size.  I have been experimenting for the past few months with grips between standard and mid-size.  I was in the process of getting ready to build up standard grips as the midsize grips I was trying were a tad too bulky for me  Lo and behold the sizing tool told me to with standard w/two wraps.    After installing the grips with two wraps, I headed to the range.  The clubs I used for this experiment as one of my sets of Mizunos (MP-32 as they have the most...

Pros: consistent height

Cons: only good for driver, not adjustable

These tees come in two heights..2 3/4" & 3 1/4". Luckily the shorter on is the height I like for my driver.  Once I learn how to hit up on the ball  bit more perhaps the longer one will come into play.  I still have to rely on finding broken tees on the tee box to hit irons/hybrids/3 woods off the tee as these are only good for drivers.  It is nice to only have to have on in your pocket althought it takes a bit to get used to the size (but it is easier in the pocket than the brush tee).  the one thing that is not good for is cleaning the grooves of your irons as the tip is a softer rubber than wood, etc and a bit thicker and not up to the job. ...

KickA**

Posted

Pros: Distance and Value

Cons: Graphics might be off-putting to some..

The KickX Tour Z was a pleasant surprise.  When first taking the ball out of the package they had a slight tacky feel to the touch.  The large graphics were immediately noticeable, both the logo and the alignment markings.  Testing done over 3 days on greens that were running about 9 on the stimpmeter.  Greens were fairly hard.   NAME:  KickX Tour Z quickly became KickA** to my foursome mostly because it was more fun to say and they sound alike if one mumbles.  Would probably be a good anchor line for an ad campaign.    GRAPHICS:  upon showing my ball on the first tee, one person saw the alignment marks and truly thought...
