Don't Judge a Book by its Cover

Posted

Pros: Face stays square at impact, very hard to not keep the line of the putt, good distance control,

Cons: It's FUGLY!

Since I am a putter ***** and collect them, I am usually getting a new putter or two each month and will frequently trade/sell/acquire.  I don't game them all necessarily unless I really like them and my gamers in rotation currently include a new Bridgestone True Balance TD - 02 and Bettinardi Studio Stock 15.   I had putted with a Yes! putter before at various golf stores but never owned one and thought that they were on the lower end of putter quality and none of them really appealed to me at all.  Since I've gone through so many putters, I know generally what type/shape/etc will fit my straight back/straight through putting stroke.  As I prefer mallets, face...

Odyssey Metal X Milled Versa Line of Putters

Posted

Pros: looks, ability to customize the club to your individual preferences, feel, quality, milled face,

Cons: price

Odyssey has really stepped up in their game recently, by offering products that cater to those that want a very high quality putter with the option to customize the club to best fit the individual.  While the Versa line of putters has been very successful, the Versa line was only appealing to those that were okay putting with an insert.  This obviously leaves out a huge chunk of the golfing population that prefer to putt with a milled putter.  At a price point of under $200, the Versa line was a mid range price that appealed to many people but left out the crowd that fancied a top quality putter that was in line with Scotty Cameron and Bettinardi.  Some people,...

Taylormade Mens Speedblade Irons Review

Posted

Pros: higher tracjectory, increased distance, looks

Cons: price, amount of offset may be too much for some players

I had purchased my Rocketbladez irons in September of 2013.  I purchased them at Golf Galaxy and like most people I was pleased with the distance gains that they provided me.  I was indifferent about the looks and as time passed I realized that I was paying a price for the distance gains.  The trajectory of my shots will just about every iron in the set was lower than it was before.  While I was gaining distance, much of the gains were from rollout of the ball and at times there was trouble having even a very soft ball to stop on the greens.  There was something else though, it seemed to me that there just was not a lot of consistency with the distance gains on...

Don't judge a putters performance based on it's looks - Scotty Cameron Futura X Putter

Posted

Pros: stability, feel, sound, easy to line up

Cons: it's hiddeous, pricy

I had planned on getting the Select Golo S.  That's why I went to the store to begin with.  I had see the Futura X online and thought it was one of the ugliest putters I have ever seen.  As I was rolling putts in the golf store, I tried several different putters as the Select Golo S was not as smooth as I was hoping.  I spent more than two hours in the store putting.  I'm not sure why I picked up the Futura X, but I'm glad I did.  I noticed right away that I liked the performance of this putter.  While it was ugly as hell, the stability was amazing.  The main part of the putter is basically a Golo that is hollowed out while the back portion of the...

Puttist Review

Posted

Pros: portability, 3 different speed settings, does not get boring, lots of games, helps speed control up to 45 feet indoors yet very small

Cons: price, availability

I wanted to make sure that I wrote a follow up on this because when I researched the Puttist, it seemed that there was not too much out there as far as what people thought after using it for a while.  This is probably because not that many people have it considering the price of it........So I've had the Puttist for 3 weeks now and I have been using it just about every day.  For those that do not know what this is, the website for the Puttist is: http://www.puttist-usa.com/.   The Puttist is a practice aid and it's unlike anything I have seen before.  It's a putting aid that has a box type thing that you putt into and it has about a 6 foot green carpet that you...
