Vintage Styling with Modern Comfort

Posted

Pros: Great style, very comfortable, nice quality

Cons: Collar stays might get in the way when swinging

In a day and age when golf apparel is becoming as technologically advanced as space suits with fancy fabrics and crazy colors, a new trend is beginning that could be described as "vintage country club". The focus is moving away from unnecessarily loud colors and patterns, tight fits that would make a body builder proud, and fabric that would wick the moisture off of a fountain at the mall. At the forefront of this new golf fashion movement is Criquet Shirts, and Austin, Texas, based company that uses organic cotton, classy looks, and superior quality to craft one of the best shirts on the market. For this review, I've broken down my thoughts into five sections: style, quality, fit,...

Most Comfortable Golf Shoes I Have Ever Worn

Posted

Pros: Extremely comfortable, great balance throughout the swing, good grip despite being spikeless

Cons: Some might find looks a bit goofy

I had heard countless stories of how True Linkswear shoes are the most comfortable on the market, the zero drop is great for balance, etc., but was always a little skeptical. On a trip to Golfsmith, I happened upon a pair of True Tour 2.0 in my size on the clearance rack, so I figured I might as well try them on to see what the fuss is about. I think the guy looking a shoes on the next row probably thought I wasn't quite right in the head as I stood up and (a little more audibly than intended) said "Holy crap!". I was amazed at how comfortable they were, even though I was wearing my most comfortable running shoes that day. I immediately slipped them off and carried them to the register...

Classic Shoe with Modern Styling and Comfortable Performance

Posted

Pros: Very comfortable, good grip and stability

Cons: Inner lining isn't as durable as the rest of the shoe

I purchased these shoes on clearance, and they have quickly become my favorite golf shoes. I have an affinity for all while golf shoes, and these have a very stylish look based in classic design, but with modern updates. The outer leather is soft and feels cushioned around the foot. Inside, these shoes have a built in lining that is very comfortable, especially when walking in the summer. However, I have noticed that this lining has the tendency to wear out, especially in the heel. Overall, these are very comfortable shoes with great styling, and at $100, are a great value.

Great Fit and Feel

Posted

Pros: Ultimate in feel, perfect cut

Cons: Expensive, hard to find in store

I happened to find this glove at Golfsmith in San Antonio, Texas in the summer of 2012. I had never heard of it, but was drawn to the very handsome packaging. I slipped on a cadet large, and the fit was perfect, as if my hand was used as the template. This is by far the thinnest and softest feeling glove I have ever used. Feel and feedback is second to none. However, at $26 - $30, this glove is on the higher end of the glove spectrum. Additionally, I have only seen this glove in store one other time since finding it the first time.    Overall, I highly suggest you give this glove a try if you can handle the price tag. You won't be disappointed.
