What I Didn't Know I Needed

Posted

Pros: Portable, Lightweight, Clamps tightly on larger phones, Comes with remote shutter

Cons: May not fit jumbo-sized phones, Durability unknown

When I saw the review roll call for the Stable Stick I got excited immediately. At the time of it being posted I had an iPhone 4s, but I knew I would be purchasing a new phone shortly with slow-motion video capabilities for filming my swing and I had yet to find a way to set up my camera effectively on the range. The Stable Stick provided a perfect solution that easily fits in a bag (provided you don't have a 14 club slot bag) and is light enough that I plan to carry it in my bag full time, even though I walk for a vast majority of my rounds.   Diving right in, my first impressions of the Stable Stick when I opened the box were, "That's just an un-fletched arrow with a clamp on...

Surprising Performance

Posted

Pros: Turbulators, Matte Finish, Discrete Adjustability, Distance

Cons: Stock Grip, Sound, Feel

Initial Comments When I traveled to a local Golfsmith to test drivers (I try to do this once a year or so just to see if there have been any significant improvements), I honestly didn't expect to order anything while I was there. What I found from this year's driver lineup surprised me, most notably because it was the PING driver that came out on top by a decent margin.   On...

Beautiful in Form and Function

Posted

Pros: Surprisingly Forgiving, Clean Look, Smaller Head, Fitting Process, Not Painful to Mishit

Cons: Sole Scratches Quickly, Shaft Upcharges Apply, Shipping Time, Stock Grips

After going in and testing various irons, I decided to purchase the S55 irons with KBS Tour X-stiff shafts in them as the Mizuno shaft fitter recommended. This is where two of the three cons apply. It was a $10 a shaft upcharge to go to the KBS Tour shafts (which is fairly reasonable, but still worse than free) and I was told that they would be shipped directly to me due to the store not carrying anything above a stiff in stock. They gave me an estimated wait time of one week, which seemed reasonable enough. Unfortunately, contacting PING directly let me know that it would be a week before my order was even processed and shipped. This isn't really PING's fault though, more of an issue...
