Light weight, comfortable , like not wearing shoes

Posted

Pros: very comfortable

Cons: expensive, a little unusual looking (wide front)

I am the Imelda Marcos of golf shoes. I have a closet full of golf shoes in all makes,  colors and styles. These are my new favorite. I bought a pair of these after reading about Jim Colton walking 155 holes in one day for a fundraiser wearing them. They almost feel as though you aren't weraing shoes at all. I walked 36 holes yesterday and loved them. THye have rubber treads rather than bulit in spikes. They are more comfortable than ECCO's with rubber treads (altough I prefer the look of the ECCOs). I have an inexpensive Footjoy sneaker style shoe that is quite comfortable and much lees expensive, so if cost is a factor I'd suggest the FJ. However, if cost is not a factor you...

Ping G-15 Fairway 4 Wood

Posted

Pros: consistent, long, forgiving, well balanced

My 3 and 5 woods were the oldest clubs in my bag. I recently replaced them with a Ping G-15 4 wood (17.5*). My second round with the club was my best of the year. I am not a long hitter and rely on fairway woods and hybrids a lot. On the first hole, a long par 5, I hit a poor ntee shot and had a 196 yard third shot approach to the green over a bunker. I hit this 4 wood to 3 feet and made birdie. It feels well balanced and is easy to swing. The par 3's on my home course are all long (180+ from the middle tees). I used this club on all 4 and parred 3 out of 4 using this club. Hit 2 greens, 3rd was  pin high in a bunker and the fourth about 2 yards short/right. The club...

Otterkill

Posted
Otterkill is a private golf club, named after the stream that meanders through the course, which caters to those who are only interested in golf (no swimming, tennis etc). Otterkill is a William F Mitchell design that opened in 1957. It is tough to make a low score here, but the course is not unduly harsh to the bogey golfer. The course measures more than 6,900 yards from the tips, but there are four sets of tees to accomodate players of all skill levels. The fairways are tight and most holes have fairway and greenside bunkers. Water comes in to play on eight holes. All 4 par 3's play over 170 from the middle tee boxes. The two toughest are # 5 a dogleg left that requires a...
