  1. I work at the busiest golf course in New Mexico. We do over 150,000 rounds a year. We take tee times 7 days in advance we will be booked solid from 6:30-10:00am by 8:00am the week before.
  2. As someone who works at a golf course, this practice is extremely irritating. It causes us to miss out on revenue and it also makes it so others miss out on the opportunity to play. Side note: I really enjoy adding people from the waiting list to groups that do this.
  3. Bushnell Tour v5 Shift Rangefinder and case to attach to your golf bag. It's been kept in the case so the rangefinder is in great shape, the case has some wear on it but still looks fine. This is the shift model so you can turn the slope function on or off depending on the rules. Selling because I got my Leopold back and I certainly don't need two rangefinders. $329 new selling for $175 shipped. Golf Laser Range Finder - Tour V5 Shift | Bushnell Golf Tour V5 Shift laser rangefinder is the perfect combination of size, speed, accuracy, JOLT and Slope-Switch Technology. Learn more inside.
  4. My Sunday group we throw $20 in and play skins and greenies. Occasionally, we throw in an extra 10 and play a group vs group best two balls match. Within our foursome we play skins and greenies and we normally play 6 hole "robins" which are match play.
  5. Exactly, and don’t forget the sound they were making off his putter face. I think I’ll pass.
  6. Attomax golf balls...You read correctly, these babies will run you $250 a dozen, just a tad over $20 a ball. I tell you at that price I am looking for my golf ball a lot longer than 3 minutes. 😝 ATTOMAX® GOLF BALLS The Attomax golf ball using an amorphous metal alloy has been officially recognized as the world's longest distance golf ball. High-density, Hyper-elastic with Amorphous Metal Powder increases maximum distance and... Rick Sheils reviewed them here Thoughts?
  7. @CraigF has only been gone a day, but I miss him already.... Did I miss it or did no one point out the obvious, like I really want to ruin my $175 OC tennis shoes by super gluing a bunch of little rubber cleats on the bottom and then using them to trudge around my wet, muddy golf course.
  8. I would argue someone plays THE drums, and the "the" is an ellipsis? Nobody has ever played the golf. I fear this conversation has gone off the rails...🥴
  9. Oh I'm sooo arguing with the dictionary! 🤬 Damn you New Oxford!!!
  10. Perhaps the issue is in the fact that no one has ever played weightlift or played fish, or played race, or played bowl. Bowling, weightlifting, fishing, and racing are both nouns and verbs in their -ing form whereas golfing is really just a verb and golf is the noun? Golf is the only word I can think of that can be used as both "play golf" and "golfing." Does that even make sense? I don't know, I just know "golfing" hurts my ears. Anyway, I will never say golfing and I will still correct my children when they ask me "if I am going golfing." I will forever answer them with, "No, I am going to play golf." Then again I wear a white belt A LOT so maybe my personal choices aren't what they should be... 😜
  11. The reason being they are doing it wrong! If the Seahawks were PLAYING football and the Mariners were PLAYING baseball they would win more!
  12. and bowling. 😝 I realize there are some activities where it's used as a verb, but golfing sounds very, very wrong to me. It's even been changed to a verb in the dictionary... stupid Webster!!!
  13. Can "golf" be used as a verb (i.e. "I'm golfing right now!")? NO!! It actually drives me crazy when people use golf as a verb. It sounds ridiculous. You play golf just like you play tennis, play pickleball, play baseball, play football, etc, etc. It's even more ridiculous sounding when people say, "I golfed my ball." If you make a 2 on a par five, is it an "albatross" or a "double eagle"? It's both to me, although I say double eagle. Is a sandy pit area a "bunker" or a "sand trap"? It's a bunker. When I teach junior lessons in the summers we actually correct the kids if they say sand trap. "Tied," "All Square," or "Halved"? I like "all square" when referring to the match, and we use that term in our group when we play. I like "tied" when talking about a single hole. "Alternate Shot" or "Foursomes", and "Better Ball" vs. "Fourball"? I use "alternate shot" and "best ball", although foursomes and fourball sound classier. "British Open" or "The Open"? The British Open, I don't care if its been around the longest, we have an Open and its a pretty big deal as well. "Hole Location" or "Pin Location" or "Pin Placement"?. I use "hole location" when I am playing. I use "pin placement" when I am setting the pins for a competition.
  14. I am a golf fanatic, but my family and wife are important to me as well. Because of this I do play golf a lot, but it's ALL I do. I hang out with my family, and I play golf. I don't go to the pub with the boys, I don't go to the gym, I have no other interests. For example, I am still working so I play golf every Sunday. I play early in the morning and I am normally home before noon. Saturdays I practice and I am normally home by 10:00am. If there is a holiday and I don't have to work, I normally play...but I try to be home before noon. I work in education, so I have summers off. In the summer I play or practice 6-7 days a week. Again, I am home before noon almost all of the time. I also go on a couple golf trips a year, they are boys only, but I also go on several family vacations or camping trips as well. As far as playing golf with my wife, I could never do it, it would be a horrible idea. I am a lifelong athlete, and I am very competitive and pretty serious. My wife is neither. I never play "just for the fun of it". I am either practicing or playing to shoot the lowest score I can. She would never understand that mindset. Marriage has to have some compromise, but at the same time you should want to make time for your significant others. Otherwise, why would you want to have a significant other?
