Volume Seventy-Seven

What’s the best cure for a 76-tournament winless streak? Playing a course you designed and using the knowledge to your advantage!

The season is coming to a close with only three full-field events remaining before the PGA Tour world goes into hibernation, but that doesn’t stop Hittin’ the Links from pressing on!

Enjoy the weekly links!

Hole 1: Winning Again
It might have taken Davis Love III a lifetime (76 starts to be exact) to get his 19th PGA Tour title, but boy was it worth it! [Link]

Hole 2: Going Home
Who says you can’t go home and win in front of the home crowd? Lorena Ochoa proved that statement to be false on Sunday with a final-round 64 to take the LPGA’s Corona Morelia Championship. [Link]

Hole 3: Streak or No Streak?
The great debate is on as to whether Tiger Woods streak is still legit. Sure he won the last WGC event to keep the streak alive, but does his HSBC Match Play loss go down as a streak breaker? I’ll let you be the judge. [Link]

Hole 4: Diaper Rash
When was the last time you heard a collegiate golf coach say that his prediction for his team this year was, “diaper rash”? Add Florida head coach Buddy Alexander to that long list. [Link]

Hole 5: As the Caddie World Turns
Who said the PGA Tour lifestyle didn’t have its stories or lying and deception? OK, so Ernie Els and longtime caddie Ricci Roberts isn’t that cool, but the two did split last week. Unlike most caddie/player splits, Els said this one could be temporary. [Link]

Hole 6: Winning Ways
Have a look inside the bag of every player that has won on tour this year. I was really shocked to see almost every player carries a hybrid now. Just kidding, that was the thing I was least surprised to see. [Link]

Hole 7: Pay Paddy!
Paddy Harrington might have had a rough time recently at the Ryder Cup (0-4-1), but that didn’t hinder him from winning the Dunhill Links Championship in St. Andrew, Scotland with a final round 68. [Link]

Hole 8: Masters Field
It’s October and I’m already checking the current Masters Field. Am I just sick, or are you ready for the first major of the year to get here? [Link]

Hole 9: Mick Is Done
I was still holding out hope that Phil Mickelson would play in the PGA Grand Slam of Golf – I guess I was wrong to hold on to that glimmer of hope. Mike Weir will be Mickelson’s replacement if you didn’t know already. [Link]

  1. I have been a fan of Phil’s for all the years that he has played. I honor him for all the good work that he has done for the underprivileged. Still, if I am going to root for someone I need to see him play more. Who do you suggest that I replace him with. I have been a steady fan of golf sence 1960.
