Volume Sixty-One

The latest iteration of Hittin’ the Links is sure to be a pleaser.

This week is another hodgepodge of links for your enjoyment. Everything from hollow golf balls that spin less, travel farther, and stop faster, to animal headcovers (à là Tiger), to Stetson golf hats that are crushable, it’s as random as random gets.

Please enjoy this week’s links.

Hole 1: NDMX Golf Balls
I read about these pellets years ago and they’ve just come out in the last two years or so. Basically, they’ve hollowed out the golfball while maintaining the same weight. The result is a golf ball that spins much less and holds a little better because of its higher MOI. I’m rather interested in these balls, but they’re a little expensive. [Link]

Hole 2: USB Beverage Cooler
Obviously we all love to be outside golfing, but there are only 24 hours in a day and we need to get some other stuff done too, like lurking this website’s forum. For those of us that spend an inordinate time in front of the computer here is a little peripheral that will keep your cool for you as you update the “What’d You Shoot Today?” thread. [Link]

Hole 3: Drink Caddy
Staying with the beverage theme for on more hole, here is a gadget for the truly thirsty. Now that Mother Nature has turned up the heat I sweat buckets during a round. I try to drink a lot during my rounds, but there are only so many drinking fountains on the course. This little guy would help me out in this catergory, but I’m sure its rather heavy. [Link]

Hole 4: Stetson Golf Hat
The Golf Channel replayed the 1994, ’95, and ’96 US Amateurs last weekend and it was very cool to be able to see Tiger own the event like he did. One thing I noticed was the Greg Norman-esque hat he wore during the ’94 Am. It was a good look for Greg and Tiger, maybe it’ll be a good look for you. [Link]

Hole 5: Ping Collegiate Bags
I was at the range the other day and one of my usual playing partners, who is departing for the University of Virginia this fall, was sporting a new UVA bag. We got to talking about it and he told me that Ping has a bunch of collegiate bags for sale. So support your alma mater and get yourself a collegiate bag. [Link]

Hole 6: Electronic Scorecard
If you still haven’t figured out how to work a pencil and a piece of paper, this is for you! This handy little gadget allows you to input your strokes into its electronic brain while it tallies up your total for you. At $25 however, maybe learning to use that pencil is a better idea. [Link]

Hole 7: Animal Headcovers
I love my r7, but I hate the ugly headcover. I find myself rife with jealousy when looking at the beautiful headcovers of the Titleist driver line, and have been considering getting an animal headcover for some time now. With a bunch of animals to choose from, I can’t go wrong with this website. [Link]

Hole 8: Father’s Day Gift Ideas
With Father’s day coming up right at the end of the US Open, it only makes sense to get your dad something golf related. This website is kinda crazy but offers a ton of crap to choose from to get your dad. [Link]

Hole 9: Bare Bones Bag
For all you no-nothings out there, here is probably the lighest golf bag ever created. It weighs less than two pounds, and while it might not hold that much stuff, it makes up for it with its ease of carry and good looks. [Link]

  1. The NDMX balls are good for one thing, and one thing only – putting.
