Candidates to Win the U.S. Open

The U.S. Open Golf Championship will take place at The Country Club between the 16th and 19th of June. As one of golf’s four major championships, winning at The Country Club will be a special moment for any golfer, no matter their previous accolades.

But who is the most likely to win at this historic and exclusive golf course? It has a history of producing U.S. winners and was even a happy hunting ground for the US Ryder Cup team in 1999.

Should I listen to the bookies?

Looking at the U.S. Open Golf Championship odds is one way to identify the favourites. A lot of hard work and research goes into creating the odds for the biggest golf tournaments, especially when bookmakers know that lots of money will get wagered on these events.

Therefore, the odds can be an insightful way to find out who is likely to win or score well. But doing your own research can be just as beneficial – if not more so. Luckily for you, you can do your own research by reading on.

Top candidates to win the U.S. Open Championship

John Rahm

John Rahm must be in the conversation to win this year’s U.S. Open because he is the reigning champion. He became the first Spaniard to win the event, which he managed by one shot. Despite carding some excellent rounds, this was his last professional victory, including a 32-under-par event at the Sentry Tournament of Champions. However, he is not an American, and Americans tend to win the big events at The Country Club.

Brooks Koepka

Brooks Koepka is a favourite to win the U.S. Open because he has won it the last two times he has played. He won back-to-back U.S. Opens in 2017 and 2018 and has not played in the event since. The only thing that may doubt his chances to win is that he hasn’t won an event for over a year.

Bryson DeChambeau

Koepka’s best friend, Bryson DeChambeau, is also in the mix to win. He also has a U.S. Open title to his name, coming in 2020 when he won by three shots. The long hitter has the ability to tear it up at The Country Club, but will he do it?

What about a long odds favourite?

The bookmakers will all be aware of the possibility of the aforementioned golfers winning this year’s U.S. Open. So, who should you put your money on if you want some longer odds?

We believe the best outsider candidate for this year is Joel Dahmen. He has been playing professional golf for just over a decade and won his first tour tournament in 2021 at the Corales Puntacana and Club Championship. His skills at the event could serve him well at this year’s U.S. Open.

  1. Because he has won the U.S. Open both of his previous appearances, Brooks Koepka is the favorite to take home the trophy. He won the U.S. Open back-to-back in 2017 and 2018, although he hasn’t participated in the competition since. https://funnyshooter2.com
