Inbee Park, well now who would have bet against a South Korean coming to the top again in one of Golf’s most prestigious events on the LPGA Tour? By now all of us are well acquainted with the story of how Inbee Park was up in the middle of the night thanks to her parents watching a certain Se-Ri- Park become the youngest player to win the U.S. Open. That was 10 years back. She claims it was that moment that really inspired her to take up the game seriously. Sounds like it is right out of a fairytale but then come to think of it great players usually make it big with a potent mix of talent, determination and of course that extra dose of inspiration that they get watching their heroes succeed. That is the beauty of Sport and that is why we are all truly madly and deeply in love with it!
While Inbee Park’s comfortable victory was definitely the highlight of the U.S. Open week one must not forget Annika Sorenstam. Her final U.S. Open and man did she manage to get just the right kind of finish. The ball found its way to the bottom of the hole from nearly 200 yards away. She may not have won the event but when she looks back 10 years down the line she can say for sure that she finished on a high.
