For what should have been a down week in TV golf, the Independence Day weekend gave us some pretty compelling story lines. Major winners prevailed in the end. But a lot of people watching the Greenbrier Classic were undoubtedly rooting for the other guy.<\/p>\n
This week is a double major week. The women of the LPGA are playing the Ricoh Women’s British Open at Royal Birkdale in Lancashire, and the Champions Tour is in Oklahoma for the U.S. Senior Open Championship. In non-major category, the PGA Tour is in Illinois for the John Deere Classic, while the Euro Tour has the Scottish Open where Phil Mickelson is the defending champion. And the following week is the British Open Championship.<\/p>\n

\nHole #1: He Wins More Than Just Majors<\/strong>
\nAngel Cabrera shot 64-64 on the weekend to claim the Greenbrier Classic by two strokes over George McNeill, who shot 61 on Sunday. The win is Cabrera’s first non-major victory on the PGA TOUR. [Link<\/a>]<\/p>\n
\nGraeme McDowell comes from eight-shots back in a downpour to retain his French Open title at Le Golf National, edging Kevin Stadler by a stroke. Overnight leader Stadler had a birdie putt on 18 to win but missed, and then missed the par putt. [Link<\/a>]<\/p>\n\n
\nIt’s Bud Cauley, of course. When Cauley holed out on the par-three final hole of the Greenbrier Classic on Sunday, he made everyone around the green some green<\/em>&Hellip; $100 to be exact. Cauley’s hole-in-one put the exclamation point on his closing round 64. [Link<\/a>]<\/p>\n
