Only in the "Big Apple?" doesn't surprise me...

Wonder what LA will come up with ...

Probably One will Stand and the other will Squat....  :~(

If they are single use.  Great idea.  Why wait when there is an open bathroom.

Or have stalls that are completely private...... meh.  I'm not too worried about who I wash my hands near.

(the signs are stupid, methinks they are trying way too hard to pat themselves on the back - in my house we just call it a "bathroom")

It's a private stall, very private, separated by concrete. Yeah, trying too hard, I dunno, just... restroom? Universal bathroom?

Why the need for the 3d figure?  It seems as if the first 2 pretty much covered the possibilities.

I would say that is a bathroom for men, women, and superheroes who wear capes. :-P

I have no issue with this. Most of this crap is just overblown politicizing of a non issue.

I have no proroblem with this as long as there is a separate bathroom available for children, and their parents.

It's cute that some of the examples have a crapload of text on them so they can make a little speech.  (or it's sad - stop trying so hard) - it's a restroom.  Stop.  That does it fine.

Post a picture of a toilet and no text and the message is even easier.

Poo emoticon works for me. What the hell, I'm blogging about bathroom signs. Whatever. :-Pimage.jpeg

It's worse. Too much discussion creates a  problem where there wasn't one before. Obama did that with is stupid directive to all the schools. Don't ask don't tell makes the most sense.

DADT is a totalitarian authoritative conformist ideal. What speaks more of facsism than saying conform and shut up.

No, DADT makes no sense in a free society.

I disagree with your characterization in this case. I don't see it as "conform and shut up" but rather as live and let live.

Isn't that just a "family restroom" or a just plain "restroom" then if it's the single stall with a door? That's what all the single stall bathrooms like that have been called in Colorado for as long as I can remember. It just seems like they're making bathrooms unnecessarily political in that case.

I agree here, who cares about other peoples lives. What they do in the privacy of their homes/stall is up to them not me. I can see why you believe so, but I think DADT isn't really an authoritarian or conformist idea but more of a 'lets not make an issue where there doesn't need to be one' type law @saevel25. I don't need to know what you're up to cause quite honestly, I couldn't care less what you're up to. You know?

Yup, our gas stations locally have two single stall bathrooms. Why does it have to be an issue?

I think I prefer the term "gender neutral" to the word "restroom". It's a toilet or a bathroom.

We were just in Chicago at the Cadillac Theater.   They have gender neutral bathrooms but are single use.   The gender neutral didn't surprise me but single use in a theater did.

When I grew up the bathroom in our house was gender neutral. Sometimes my mom used it, and sometimes my brother, my dad and I used it. Just not at the same time.

But seriously, some people really like watching others take a dump?

After a couple Johnnie Walker's at dinner in NYC last Summer, I stood in front of three doors marked "WC" for a good minute or two before a waitress asked me if I needed help.  "I..uhh...I don't know where to go."  Not my finest moment.

The hotel we stayed in also had community bathrooms in the hallways (not in the rooms), along with community showers...had to use our room keys to get in.  That was a prettayyy prettayyy new experience for this country bumpkin haha.

I dont think saevel fully described what he meant.  When the military had the DADT policy it meant that people overseas fighting and dying for our country could not insure that their spouses would get their benefits if they died.  Thats the conforming part.  If I cant tell you that Im in a gay marriage bc Ill be kicked out then I also cant die for my county knowing my spouse is taken care of.

I.E. you only get those benefits if you act and do like us.  thats the conforming part.
